This place is a gift from God. I have been under their care for more than 5 years and the Dr's and entire staff are excellent. I am sorry that some people have had a bad experience but this is not the norm. This is a TRUE pain clinic and not a pill mill. They require monthly urinalysis and count your meds when you come in for your monthly visit/refills. For someone who is truly in pain and does not mind their two rules, this is the place for you. Their only two rules are to have a clean drug test ( except for meds you are currently prescribed ) and follow the directions on the pill bottles. This means don't do other drugs, don't take more than prescribed, and don't give or sell your meds to anyone else. If you can follow those easy rules then you have a great doctor for life. They are not rude or insist on perfection. If you are a few pills short one month or have alcohol in your system one month they are not just going to discharge you. They R there to help you and will work with you. Any Dr. who is prescribing narcotics nowadays has to be careful but if you are able to follow these two rules then you are fine. This is not a place for junkies or addicts to come get pain meds from so don't bother trying. They have seen/heard all the excuses of why there was drugs or alcohol in your system and/or why you should have a few dozen pills left but you have none. They are not stupid. The good thing is that if you ARE an addict and want help they are also licensed to treat addiction medicine ( suboxone, Subutex, etc ) and they can help you get your life back. I have a chronic, degenerative, extremely painful, rare, disease and used to hurt 24/7. Other doctors saw my age ( 25 ) and laughed me out the door thinking I was a junkie. Nexstep has treated me with compassion and care and without them I would probably be dead. They understand when I need to switch meds or increase dosage as my tolerance builds. TRUE pain patients who need a good doctor should give them a try. They saved my life and might save yours. Good luck to all who have pain and I wish you the best of luck. Andrew M

I've been going to Therapyworks for about 2 years now for time to time treatment (as needed from my heavy laptop use) Their staff is always professional and obviously experts in their field. The therapists really listen to your concerns and concentrate on the area's you request. They also accept insurance which is a plus, and since they do accept insurance I know then that I'm getting a true medical/professional type therapy and not just a massage. They also have a membership program which provides another source of savings. The biggest thing, I know these guys truly care about the health and well being of their clients. They really want you to feel better. Oh and I especially like the fact that they have 2 locations (and soon to be 3 from what I hear) which makes it easier to get same day appointments...you know how you just wake up one day & your neck and shoulders are all spazed out. You can't predict when that's going to happen, so again, the same day appointments have been really helpful to me, my body & hectic schedule. I give them my highest recommendation.
Dr. Willens has been taking care of me and my sister for several years. He is really wonderful, kind, caring, professional, and very smart. The new office is absolutely beautiful. It's the nicest doctor's office I have ever been to and all the art on the walls are Dr. Willens's photographs. The staff is like family. I was originally in a very serious car crash about 5 years ago and was referred to Dr. Willens by my family doctor who I trust and I was impressed that Dr. Willens trained at the Cleveland Clinic. When I first came to him, I thought that I would be in pain or be on major narcotics for the rest of my life. I didn't know that there was anything that anyone could do about it except surgery and I was going to do that. But he treated me with injections and a Spinal Cord Stimulator and I don't have to take any narcotics almost ever. If your looking to get better and be treated by a great doctor and staff, then this is your place. Thank you Dr. Willens!
Since my mountain biking accident 12 years ago I've tried numerous treatments for my lower back pain without much success. My sports medicine doctor recommended Therapyworks for deep tissue massage, and I am so grateful that he did this. It has really altered the course of my recovery dramatically. I experienced such relief as a result of the kind of massage therapy they practice. My therapist was efficient and would get to the muscles that were causing the most trouble. He was incredibly knowledgable and explained everything he was doing. That really helped me understand what was causing my back pain and to ultimately feel more in control of my care. They really listened to what my specific issues were and have treated them accordingly. I would highly recommend Therapyworks to anyone dealing with pain issues.
I'm able to make same day appointments (which is huge with my hectic schedule) The therapists are professional, respectful and each one has a special technique. I've been here 3 times over the past year and each treatment has been exceptional. I'm a heavy laptop user and sometimes I have extreme pain in my upper shoulders (traps) & neck. Within an hour I feel incredible relief. Going to an actual clinic is so much better than going to a day spa type place. The therapists here are licensed and yet they each also seem to have a gift for seeking out the areas of your pain and finding the right techniques to give you relief. I highly recommend these folks. As a matter of fact I've already referred my friends. (I guess you can see why I need neck & shoulder therapy...I'm long winded with my emails & my reviews!!)
I was injured in a automobile accident and my physician referred me to Therapy Works for massage therapy so my insurance covered the treatments. The therapists and staff were very professional and knowledgeable about my condition. The deep tissue massage treatments helped my neck and back pain tremendously and I would recommend their care to anyone who is looking for a great massage or deep tissue treatment. In addition to the pain relief, the atmosphere helped me to relax and unwind during the massage session. Excellent work, thank you.
Absolutely GREAT! I had a car accident this year and was referred to them as my new pain management doctor. My situation was compounded by the fact that I had back surgery last year and now everything was aggravated in addition the the new injury. The staff was extraordinarily helpful and took great care of me. Finally, I needed a spinal cord stimulator which worked great and I didn't have to have surgery again. Highest recommendations to anyone wanting a doctor that actually cares.
If you're in need of a great pain management Doctor, Dr Willens at Advanced Pain Management in Jacksonville is definitely for you, I have never felt so cared for not only by the doctor but by his staff as well it was refreshing. I always feel Drs are all about the money this dr did not have me feeling that, I felt like he cared and wanted so much to help me get my life back. Give him a shot you will be happy you did
I have to say that he is the very best doctor I have ever seen! Seriously! Why? Because he is obviously very kind, very smart, very compassionate, and explained everything to me in a very simple way I could understand. I am 90% better in only 3 months and like everyone else, I actually enjoy going to see all of them. I am so glad that I found them. Thank you Dr. Willens and Melissa and Amber too!
Dr. Willens & his staff have been caring for me since September of 2011. With no exceptions his entire staff has handled my injury with ease. They have "squeezed me in" on my toughest & most painful days. They have always treated me with respect & always respected my privacy. I highly recommend Dr. Willens!!!
