We used Dr. Silverness first for my daughter's pet rat who had massive tumors and we decided to put her down. Dr. Silverness discussed everything with us, talked about other options, and the projected cost. She respected our decision. We later received a nice condolence card my daughter still has. When I needed a vet for our new cat, I tried going somewhere else nearby, but the vet just treated my cat without asking permission or giving me an idea of the cost, elevating a $35 visit to a $115 visit. After paying in full, two weeks later they sent me a bill because they "forgot" to charge me for something. That's when I went back to Dr. Silverness. Every visit, she would outline what kind of things I should consider doing and print out a sheet with the costs on it. I checked off what I wanted and knew exactly what it would cost. Nothing was ever pushed on me. She was wonderful with both of my cats. Unfortunately, she no long has her own practice, but I will follow her wherever she goes.

Sad But Happy

My wife and I recently had to make a very difficult choice and had to put down our precious Magi. She's been under the care of Dr. Silverness all of her 8 short years of life. Unfortunately Magi was stricken with a severe degenerative back problem and she had problems walking and with incontinence. Eventually the nerve damage led to other complications. During all of this time Dr. Silverness and her dedicated team took excellent care of our pup. Knowledgeable, thorough and caring are all words that I would use to rate this office. When it was Magi's time the doctor assured us we did all we could and she was extremely supportive to us in our time of loss.

I've been very impressed. Dr. Silverness & her therapist took so much time with us! We were at our last straw with Foster & his complications from his FHO surgery. Dr. S set a plan together in terms of physical therapy that we can do at home ( showed me exactly what to do & how) recognized a few things that I think our regular vet may have even over-looked and I believe we are on to seeing some positive results for a change!

The facility is very impressive, everyone was freindly. Her rate was very reasonable.

I guess the few sourpuss's that are complaining about getting "nickled & dimed" can always go & wait for two hours at the Humane Society Vet Clinic & get tossed around from room to room if they want CHEAP. I can appreciate what the doctor & her staff put into the time, the care & the concern that they gave to me today. My pet is worth it.

I've taken my animals here for years. Dr Silverness is a very knowledgeable vet, however, she will nickle and dime you to death. For as many years as we went there, and the thousands of dollars we spent, not so much as a nail trim was ever thrown in free of charge, even when the rest of the bill was a few hundred dollars. Our dog was a "cash cow" to her which was apparent since her and her staff were very attentive when she was alive and bringing in money for her business, then once she passed, she was very uncaring toward us and didn't want to be bothered. I ended up transferring my other animals to another vet and when I called, the extremely rude girl at the front desk never asked why I was leaving or said she was sorry to see me go. Very dissapointing (and sad).

I am stunned to read something so negative especially without knowing a thing as to what it pertains to. If I have made someone feel unwelcome after the loss of thier pet, I am immensely sorry. I would never do that. I would love to have the chance to rectify this as that is clearly NOT my personality to behave as accused.

I came across the reviews for Mandarin Landing and saw these two negative reviews and felt I had to comment. I have been taking my best pals to Dr. Ann since moving here several years ago. Mandarin Landing is A+. The staff is friendly, caring and professional. Dr. Ann is topnotch. I never feel rushed and she is very thorough and spends time answering any questions I may have. Is it more expensive then some vets? Yep, I am sure it is but I firmly believe that you get what you pay for. Whenever my pets have bloodwork or proceedures done I always receive a call and or follow up with Dr. Ann personally. Her quiet spirit and gentleness with my furries makes them feel at ease. Thanks Mandarin Landing for your excellent care and the services you offer. :)

I highly agree with sushilvr, I took my pet in for a UTI and bladder infection, Dr. S wasnt even there her coverage was. Long story short they put her on different med than she was on in Jan when she had same thing. Week 2 days later dog had NO relief no pain meds were given to dog for pain & you could tell it hurt her when she peed. Labwk was done for kidneys b/c of meds which I found out later was waste of money b/c dogs can take antibiotics like humans. Kidneys were fine. Then I get talked into doing a culture even though she was on antibiotic I said lets wait Dr. Silverness says "well I highly" recommend it to see if bacteria is growing, well find out later with her on meds bacteria wont grow when on antibiotic so flushed another $138 down drain. After $476 later that was spent in 2 weeks with labwk, culture, office visits 2 different anitbiotics, dog still no relief (and was told my 22lb 2yr old pug was obese and overweight which the vet who did 2nd opinion said no she is actually skinny for a pug.)no change I get her records to take her to another vet who spent an hour with me going over everything and got results immediately as to what was wrong with her. Funny part is after I get her records and find a way better Vet she discharges my dog. lol thanks for the favor :)

I do respect the fact that Ms. A was clearly unhappy with the fact that her dog had repeated urinary tract infections. Despite sucessfully treating them, they recurred. Radiographs and cultures were recommded to look for an underlying cause though repeatedly declinded. Today people can write whatever they feel or perceive on the internet with ease, unfortunatley the bulk of the details in her review are grossly inaccurate.

I was new to the area and decided to bring my dogs to Mandarin Landing Animal Hospital because it was close by. I wish I hadn't! Once I got into the exam room for my dog's appointment, I felt that Dr. Silverness was very cold and not very friendly with me or my pets. She tried selling me on expensive treatments like Adequan injections, which I promptly turned down. I have veterinary technician experience and know for sure that my dogs do not need an unneccessary treatment. Upon leaving, I was checked out by the receptionist, who clearly did not have a clue as to what she was doing. Before leaving, I looked over my receipt and found that I was charged twice for a couple of different services.

Now that I have researched other veterinarians, I am much happier with the one I have chosen! Even before I get to see a doctor, I am given a warm welcome and feel like I should have been bringing my pets there all along. I would not recommend Mandarin Landing Animal Hospital if you are concerned that your pets get the best care possible!

I can not fathom how I could have made such a negative impression on someone. I care very deeply about every patient that I see. We try very hard to welcome all new clients here and take our time going over a lot of client education that most other clinics do not. I also take extra time to address pain management issues and yes do offer many services that other doctors do not such as multi-modal pain management including canine rehabilitation, therapeutic laser, joint mobilizations, joint supplements and more. I am proud of the fact that we do have so much to offer however I never force anything on anyone nor do I ever judge owner's decisions. I do deeply regret that our good intentions were so misunderstood.

Awesome!!!

The new pet resort is beautiful and they take such good care of their guests! Whenever I have to take my dog in, she gets excited as soon as we pull in the parking lot. She never did that at her previous kennel! She obviously loves it here and so do I!!

So Very Helpful

The staff here is friendly, personable, and helpful. One of the very few vets we could find who treat pocket pets. Guinea Pigs are people, too! Dr Silverness was a great help!

Overall
great vet

Our miniature daschund Gracie injured her back and seemed to be paralyzed from the middle of her back to her to her tail. I called her regular vet but she was in surgery. We called the Mandarin Landing Animal Hospital and was told to bring her right in. When Dr. Silverness examined her she informed us that she had damaged a disk and may not be able to use her back legs again. My kids got very upset but Dr. Silverness assured them that this was not a death sentence that she could live a normal life just that she would need more care than usual. She wanted to keep Gracie for 2 days and see what she could do to make her more comfortable. She called us the next day and send there was no change she encouraged us to come visit Gracie. The next day she called and send that Gracie had some feeling back and that she wanted her to be on medicine for 4 weeks after the 4 weeks Gracie is now walking around she's a bit wobbily but i give credit to Dr. Silverness for giving us hope that she would recover and still lead a healthy life.
