He his seen to every detail, everything from designing the build out to the colors and decor. The reception lounge is like nothing in any tattoo studio I've ever been to. It is welcoming and inviting. Is is calming and peaceful. There is no doubt from looking that this place has Devin written all over it, and that's a very good thing. He has assembled a great team from his right hand man, Terry Cross(an exceptional body piercer) to a selection of other piercers and tattoo artists you will love. Devin told me a long time ago that he follows a credo most eloquently expressed by Maya Angelou, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Devin and his entire team are doing just that. I have been a client and friend of Devin's for the past 3 years. In that time, he has tattooed over 60% of my body, and is just a few sessions away from finishing my full body suit. I am his most tattooed canvas. I love every inch of the work he has done. The way he has tied my body suit together is truly amazing. Even when I didn't know where he was going, he always knew and always knew what would be best for me, because he takes the time to get to know his cliennts. When you are being tattooed by Devin, you are the focus. I've been getting inked by Devin Wilson for almost 2.5 years now, 8-10 hours a month, every month, over 250 hours of ink. Devin has inked about 2/3 of my body. We are almost done with my full body suit. I can't really say enough about the experience of getting tattooed by Devin. Unlike a lot of other places, the music at Old School Electric isn't blaring, the artists aren't yelling at each other across the shop. The atmosphere is chill and very relaxed. That's what you want in a tattoo shop. Trust me, sitting for hours at a time, which I have done at other shops, is no fun when you can't think from all the commotion. All of the artists at Old School are professional and extremely talented. This is a custom shop, which means that every single piece that they do is an original creation from scratch by your artist. There is no flash on the walls or in books to sift through and point at so the artist can color inside the lines. Every artist will create for you an individual, unique, custom piece just for you and you alone. It doesn't get better than that. I also had both my nipples pierced by Terry. At one point in my life I had over 30 piercings. I know a good piercer. This was the 4th time I had my nipples done and this was also the best experience. Terry was very professional and really did a nice job. They have healed perfectly and it looks like I just needed Terry to do them to get them finally done right! You will not be disappointed with a piercing from Terry. Finally a note about an apprentice sitting in the lobby. This happens at all shops. There is down time and people even have breaks at times to get off their feet. There is also sort of an unwritten rule in any shop that everyone should help the customers, but apprentices should defer to the artists and piercers where questions are concerned. This is as it should be, as you wouldn't want a piercing apprentice giving you advice about the best style, placement, etc for your next tattoo. They aren't trained in the same way as a tattoo artist, and being new to the business, are really meant to be seen and not heard as they are still learning.
After having an idea in my head for well over a year, and searching high and low for an artist that would have the passion, skills, and patience to go about turning it into a reality, I discovered Grace at Old School Electric. More than anything, I wanted an old school pinup version of Harley Quinn, the Joker's infamous crazy on-and-off girlfriend from Batman. All the designs I'd seen were either tacky, garish, or just plain ugly. After phoning Grace and telling her about my idea, she spent time looking for and designing the perfect image. I went in last Saturday, and could barely contain my excitement as she showed me what she'd come up with. It was perfect!!! It absolutely fit with what's been in my head. I had the outside of my right forearm, from elbow to wrist done with this amazing design. She gave me a great price, and several hours later, I had a beautiful tattoo. I keep looking at it, shocked that I have something so amazing, and fitting so perfectly in with what I'd been imagining. Grace is a wonderful artist, was fun to talk to, and seemed genuinely excited to do the piece. She is a sucker for pinups, just like me, and that day, she had already done several "nerdy" pieces, and seemed stoked on it! I love finding people with a passion for the same things as me, and I knew that I chose the right artist. The shop was clean, all of the other artists were super friendly. I felt welcome from the moment I walked in. I was treated with respect, had fun, joked around with everyone. All in all, it was probably the best experience I've ever had in a shop, and I've been in my share. I would recommend Grace or any of the other artists there.
