Assault
In our state criminal defense practice, we defend clients against misdemeanor and felony charges. Murder
Client was charged with first-degree murder for the death of his wife. Following a trial in Hinds County Circuit Court, the client was found guilty. However, based on the record Hollomon made during the trial, the case was reversed and remanded for a new trial.
Homicide
Joe M. Hollomon has been retained as counsel in many high-profile cases. He successfully represented Fortune 500 insurance company executives in both state and federal courts following Hurricane Katrina. He represented executives in the WorldCom prosecution in the Southern District of New York. He served as local counsel in the first trial of U.S. vs. Minor, which resulted in the client’s acquittal on a number of charges and a mistrial on the remainder. He has represented many clients in homicide cases, including the defense of the first death penalty prosecution in federal court in Mississippi after the re-institution of the death penalty. Following a lengthy bifurcated trial, the jury rejected the death penalty for Hollomon’s client. Most recently he has been very active in the defense of individuals charged with mortgage fraud.

Defendant was charged with murder. Hollomon defended at trial and the jury found the client not guilty of murder, but guilty of the lesser offense of manslaughter. At sentencing, the court attempted to enhance the defendant’s sentence. Hollomon objected and the enhancement was later vactted 2nd set aside by the trial court on motion of the defendant.
