Dr. Barry received her medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. She and her husband have three children. She is board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. While at UMMC, she was the Administrative Chief Resident, the winner of the All-Star Resident award, and was voted Resident of the Year by the medical student body. When not working, she loves spending time cooking for her family.

Ultrasound
ABUS technology offers an exciting new way to detect breast cancer in patients with denser tissue. This 3D ultrasound imaging can be used as a supplementary tool along with mammographies and provides doctors valuable insights into their patient’s health.
Radiology
Breast density is determined by the radiologist who reads your mammogram, and the classification is always provided in the radiology report. Your doctor will inform you if your breasts are determined to be dense and if a supplemental exam is likely to be helpful.
Mammography
Anatomically, breasts contain functional tissue associated with milk production mixed with differing amounts of fatty tissue. The breast tissue associated with milk production is white on mammography, while fatty tissue is gray. When there is enough white tissue on the mammogram to significantly camouflage a developing breast cancer, then the breast is considered dense.One concern is that dense breast tissue could hide a developing cancer.

Dr. Ethridge earned his undergraduate degree from Mississippi State University and his medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He then completed his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, SC. He and his wife have two daughters and three grandsons. Board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, he is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Mississippi State Medical Association, and the Jackson Gynecic Society. He also serves as a proctor for daVinci Robotic Surgery. He is active in his local community and church activities and enjoys traveling, golfing, and spending time with his family.

Skin Cancer
Women have the highest risk of developing basal and squamous cell carcinoma, both forms of NMSC. Rates are higher for women before they reach age 50, though either type of skin cancer can form at any time. The ADA estimates one in 40 women will be affected by melanoma in their lifetime.
Dermatology
Whether it be a lotion or spray, you should apply sunscreen generously and frequently. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher daily. For outdoor activities, reapply your sunblock after swimming, sweating and every two hours to maintain its protective strength.
