Bedore's Midtown Auto Repair

I needed a new pin and bushings in the upper hinge of the driver's door on my 15 year old Dakota. I called the Dodge dealer and they wanted $100 to take the door off and look at it then they'd give me an estimate to make the repair. Talked to the Ford dealer and they wanted $450.

So, I went to Bedore's. As soon as I got out of my truck someone approached me and checked out the door. He called his parts supplier to make sure they had the parts and gave me a quote of $140 to replace the pins and bushings in both hinges. Told me to drop it off on Monday and I'd get it back on Tuesday.

I dropped it off and and 5 hours later he called & told me it was done. I went down there and the bill was only $80. He had deduced that 95% of the play was in the upper hinge. He popped out that pin, replaced the bushings, and popped in a new pin. The bushing for the detent mechanism is also worn out but it's not a necessity so he left it like it was. It's not made to be replaced so they would have to remove the door and replace the whole hinge or fabricate something from scratch. Not worth it on an old truck. I can't say enough about these guys: honest, hard working, fast, polite and it was all taken care of with no hassles in less time and for less $ than the estimate. Highly recommend Bedore's Midtown if you need some body work.
