Something here to do for everyone. Museum is good for little kids, after age 10 they would be bored.

Navy Pier
Posted by steve s. on 09/27/2007
I kind of like The Navy Pier, but isn't it really just one big fast food restaurant with a few games tossed in. Its burgers, tex mex and minutes of family fun!!I love chicago, but you cannot have an attraction with a huge Mcdonalds in the middle

Fireworks
Posted by Bob S. on 05/26/2006
All through out the summer they shoot off fireworks at the pier. They also synchronize music to go with the fireworks, which is fun to grab a seat and listen to. If you have a view out that way from home, like I do, then you can turn into the radio station and enjoy it from home. The pier is a great place to hang out with friends. You don't need to spend money to enjoy yourself here.

meet friendly strangers
Posted by Gina L. on 03/25/2006
What a beautiful sight, as you're driving down LSD at night. Obviously Navy Pier is going to attract visitors, and its usually full of out of towners. But you know what, I find its actually a good place to meet friendly strangers. I've gone there a few times and just interviewed people about their vacation and what they think about our city. I usually meet very approachable people here. On the other hand most of the food and merchandise is very commercial and overpriced. I don't think its an accurate reflection of Chicago's culture. But then again, its not supposed to be. I love going here early in the morning when nobody's around, just to get a good look at the lake and feel the breeze. Its a great place for many reasons and definitely worth the visit.

Fun at The Pier
Posted by Robert L. on 03/25/2006
Folks of all ages and from all walks of life visit here. Everyone can find something they enjoy here. There are alot of restaurants, IMAX theater is here, boats and sightseeing cruise ships are docked here, the famous ferris wheel is here etc... An awesome place to take photos and to take a stroll up and down the pier. Even with all the activity the seagulls aren't afraid to greet you and squak for food. They will be delighted if you throw them a french fry. I have seen (and heard) some very talented musicians perform at their beer garden. I have also attended concerts in their main ballroom. A very special place indeed.

Early Morning For The Romantics
Posted by Douglas M. on 03/16/2006
I used to live right by here, and would go jogging every morning to the tip of the pier. When the sun rises you can usually find the romantics sitting out there having a cup of coffee with a friend. This is the only time when the pier is quiet and not full of all the tourist attractions. If you go, please keep the peace. The rest of the time this place is a lot of fun. When summer hits make sure to take advantage of the miniature golf.

Try the ferris wheel!
Posted by Ross L. on 03/07/2006
Navy Pier sort of defines Chicago. The pier gives not only a fantastic view of the beautiful city, but offers lots of things for people to do while they visit. I personally love the huge ferris wheel here. Go on a nice warm night with that special someone and enjoy the smooth ride and the breathtaking views it gives. Lots of great places to eat. Though many people claim this place is "touristy," I believe it is one of the greatest ammenities our city has to offer, not only to tourists, but to residents too.

Something for Everyone
Posted by Kathleen K. on 01/28/2006
Navy Pier is to be commended by this reviewer for having a little something for everyone. Granted, parking on Navy Pier is expensive, and it's not the easiest thing to take public transit out to the Pier, but it's all worth it. The view of the city at night from the top of the Ferris wheel is unparalleled, and strolling along the Pier on an uncrowded evening is simply magical. Although summer afternoons and evenings pack the pier with tourists, this local enjoys the off-season just as much.Logistically speaking, you've got plenty of food options, ranging from McDonald's to formal seafood restaurants. Bathrooms are hidden along the pier corridors, and plenty of fun houses, simulators, and games will keep the kids entertained.

Several Attractions!
Posted by bob c. on 10/15/2005
Navy Pier is an excellent place to visit in the summer. They have a ferris wheel, miniture golf, all types of boat tours, IMax Theater, and several other exhibits and shops. You can also just walk by the pier that looks over miles and miles of Lake Michigan. They also have different events throughout the year from fireworks night to several expo and boat exhibit. It is also very children friendly as they have a swing ride to childrens museum to build your own teddy bear workshop. A must see if you are visiting Chicago although Parking maybe more difficult to find.

Chicago commerical style
Posted by Francis O. on 08/19/2005
I used to swing dancing at the Beer Garden in the summer, and those are probably my fondest memories of Navy Pier. It's a very touristy place to take anyone wanting to take in the commercial side of Chicago. There's always a lot to see at the Pier. If I'm there and it's nice outside, I usually try to get a round of mini-golf in and then go on a ride on the ferris wheel. They have fireworks on Wednesday and Saturday in the evening, so try to get a ride on the ferris wheel then.
