The best reason to go to the Vic is to see some movie that something to do with San Francisco. For me, that seals the deal on the whole experience of the gooviest little art house in SF. Make sure you get their early though and pick a seat that isn't going to totally destroy your back.

    Total San Francisco experience

Having lived in the Bay Area for the past decade, I've had my share of bad movie theatre experiences. Bad seats, outrageous prices, big crowds. But none of these complaints apply to the Red Vic on Haight Street. Right in the middle of Haight's eclectic array of shops and restaurants sits the Red Vic movie house. Check out their site for their latest calendar...movies range from asian indie flicks to "Wayne's World". Their seats may not be luxurious and their "food court" may not sell sushi and vegi-kabobs, but it's truly a unique experience and one you should enjoy!

    Quintessential art house movie theater

Who needs stadium seating when you have well worn couches, homemade popcorn, and the unique smells of the Haight? The Red Vic always plays great movies, new and old, and it's always nice to see a film with other people who appreciate movies. This theater is definitely not for everyone. Some of the seats are getting a little funky and the aforementioned smells can occasionally get out of control. It is the Haight after all.

The Red Vic is a great place to watch movies. They have everything from documentaries to experimental movies to old movies, everything except Hollywood big sensational hit movie. the ticket is only 7,50 dollars and you can also get a 5 tickets pass for cheap. They only have one movie playing per night, the seats are not very comfortable (benches). They have food and give you coffee in a mug. Great atmosphere...go check it out.

Not sure what to go see in San Francisco? I suggest you check the monthly schedule for the Red Vic. Lots of indie films, lots of documentaries, lots of classics. Located on Haight Street, grab a slice of Escape From New York Pizza while you wait in line for the show to start. Grab some popcorn (how can you not love a place where you can get yeast on your popcorn?) and go pull up a couch. Seating is comfy cozy with benches/couches for your lounging pleasure. Finish the night with a drink at the Gold Cane and you'll have had an evening well-spent with something interesting to talk about tomorrow at work.
