WAMU IS DEDICATED TO PEOPLE
Posted by bobbi2000 on 06/12/2008
Everyone has their opinion and I'd like to express my deepest admiration to the folks at WAMU. My roommate and I are considering moving to Cleveland from So. California. I do have an account and have found no errors in the handling of my account, no lost or misplaced direct deposits (unlike Bank of America who deserve an internal thrashing). Earlier this year I was overdrawn for several months and then WAMU came up with the idea to not penalize it's members for poor bookkeeping and/or not realizing just how much they were overdrawn. I've always been treated with the greatest respect when dealing with customer service agent (execpt don't call for help on a weekend because like most banks your call is directed to Iraq or Indonesia or one of those off shore destinations where the rep barely has a sampling of the English language. I wind-up screaming sometimes to get to talk to someone whose basic knowledge of English is understandable.) That is my only complaint after 4 or 5 years of their excellent service. Sorry to those who have had problems with them (no I do not work for the bank) I'm reestablishing my credit and they are very compassionate as to how I may accomplish this and have offered several benefits to assist in my quest. As to raising rates - every bank and finance company are just as deeply in debt because of foreclosures due to no payment on home loans, etc. If you're with or considering opening an account don't be frightened. I read the reviews by members and am now keeping abreast of what to ask for and get in writing. Banks are hungry for new business - unfortunately the political climate (until November hopefully) will change administrations to a better democratic individual who may perform like FDR did - assisting American's to stand-up, be proud, get off unemployment and get back to work, etc.

Totally Disappointment

i would not recommend this bank to anyone. The reason I feel that this is not a good bank to get involved with is because I never recieved any checks in the mail for them, but in return they close my account and with hold two direct deposit pay checks. I know that somewhere down the line there was no communication. I know that there are a lot of Customer Service personall that could have called mailed a letter or something. They can harass you when they want, but when it is beneficial for helping the customer it is like they have no efforts in making it right. Well, that is all I have to vent about.

Run as fast as you can from ths company. If you currently carry a balance and are a good customer with no late charges, always pay on time and always more than the minimun, check your statement CLOSELY. They are raising rates as fast as they can, my rate went up 7% from lst month. They gave me the OPPORTUNITY to opt ou, freezing my current rate, but I would have to close the account and have my credit score lowered that I have been working very hard to get back in good standing post divorce. So I am paying off balance as fast as I can, and hae shredded teh card. I have six family members that have all done the same thing. Two of them had rate increases and did not even know till I told them to check!! Forgert about calling customer no -service. I went round and round with a representative from India, and she told me basicly I had two choices, pay it off all at once to avoid charges, close the account and freeze current rate and have credit score reduced, or just accept the fat that they raised the rate to 23% basicly because they can!!!

No Consideration

I got married Feb 2008 and decided to add my spouse to my personal acct she in turn added me to her personal acct and we opened 5 savings accts. In April 2008 the bank decides to freeze all the accts without any notice or warning or call or anything, based on an acct that my spouse owed $120 from 2001. I had well over $1000 and was expecting my automatic bill payments to be credited. One week after they froze the accts and after many arguments with bill collectors and the bank about not being able to access the money they send me a letter telling me that they were going to close my accts. Up to this point I had no idea that the accts were frozen or the reason why. This stunt caused me to default on many of my credit accts which causes an increase in interest and also late fees. This I call POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE a simple call or a letter would have resolved this matter before it escalated to the level of freezing the accts. Needless to say, I paid what was owed which I didn't know about until now and closed all my accts with them. I will not be doing business with people who refuse to take responsibility for their wrongdoings. It's funny how they did not decide to freeze my spouse's 3 other accts she had with them between 2001 and 2008.

http://osbckansas.org/ WAMU ois not licensed in KS. I would NOT work with anyone who is not licensed in the state where you are getting a mortgage. It says they are "serving your area"....not licensed...hmmm. You make the call.
