Good food and good jazz music at Spazio
Posted by sallyfromthevally on 10/27/2009
I can't believe some of the reviews I am reading here! I've always been treated well at Spazio. The first time I came here, the owner sat us right in front of the stage which was awesome. The second time we asked to be seated in the back for dinner. I recommend their French Onion soup!

Awful evening
Posted by good eats on 10/04/2009
My husband and I and another couple went to Spazio for dinner last Saturday night. I called to make a reservation and the person taking the call explained that there is a cover charge for the live music but if you eat dinner it is waived. When we got there we were told in order not to pay the $10 per person cover charge you have to sit outside. This was never mentioned over the phone. It was too cold to sit outside so we decided to pay the cover charge and sit inside. In addition, we had 2 coupons - one for each couple since we requested separate bills. They would only let us use one of the coupons and would not budge. To add insult to injury we were asked not to talk during the live performance which basically lasted the whole dinner. Management was rude, service was slow and the food was very expensive. Overall a horrible experience. Will never go there again!

Jazz Heartbreak
Posted by jazzist on 08/30/2009
I have gone to this Venue several times. After all, some great people gig there. Little by little word on the street is DO NOT GIG THERE, EVER! The bartender is the only real person in the entire establishment. If however you are the sort of person to go someplace to stroke your ignorant ego, THIS IS YOUR KIND OF PLACE! iF YOU LIKE TO BE OVERCHARGED FOR FOOD AND DRINK in order to feel better than everyone else you will just LOVE this spot. If you are the guy or gal who is quite certain that your bathroom never stinks my friend, you have found your perfect spot. If you are at all REAL
and Love Jazz and the Artists that create this incredible idiom - PLEASE PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COSTS !!!!

Good Music, Great Atmosphere, Thursday Nights
Posted by StillinLA18 on 07/31/2009
Thursday nights is a great night to go out and have a drink with friends. Spazio's has some great options. Inside, live jazz, and a little formal. Outside, a DJ playing everything from Deep house to the Jackson Five and everything in between. The patio is wonderful. Every song that came on I said, "I Love this Song!"
Together with their Late night happy our, you just cant go wrong on a Thursday.

Spazio's
Posted by cd8me on 07/08/2009
I went to Spazio's to enjoy an evening of great music and delicious food and was shocked when my expectations were surpassed. I cam in around 8:30 p.m. on a Tuesday evening and was pleasantly surprised to see a packed bar. The bartender was very proficient and well versed in the world of spirits. The food was absolutely fabulous. I started with the Tuna Tartar and it melted in my mouth. I then followed it with the Mediteranean Fettucine and was astonished at the taste. A real treat for anyone looking for a great evening. I will be back alot.

Best Martini Ever!!!!
Posted by BookerB on 06/18/2009
Driving up and down Ventura Blvd, I always see this place, and they just put up new Happy Hour signs that grabbed my eye. So I went in by myself to see what the hype was all about. I was greeted by a beautiful friendly I think Russian hostess who was classy and helpful who said I can do Happy Hour at the bar. I then met a very cool bartender who was from NY like myself (always nice). I was not sure what I wanted and she suggested a Espresso Martini, and wow!!!! That got me, plus the half off Kobe sliders really got the spot. The place was very elegant with a good vibe, def a place I want to come to for a romantic evening!

Service at McDonald's is better; so is the food
Posted by usconner on 05/30/2009
Last night I was in the mood for Italian food and my boyfriend suggested Spazio. He said he had been there a year or so ago and the experience had been a good one.
Well, a lot has changed in a year. And I wish I had read the most recent user reviews on this site.
The service was almost non-existent and when it was there, it was terrible. The food was mediocre at best, but we didn't even eat it all because the way my boyfriend and I were treated, made us lose our appetites.
My boyfriend and I have both worked in restaurants before and understand how many times and in many different ways things can go wrong. But this was a time when everything went wrong and nobody at Spazio took responsibility for it. There were problems with the kitchen, the servers and the management.
It is not okay to allow your patrons to wait for 10 - 20 minutes for water and to order. It is not okay to bring out one appetizer and then wait 20 minutes to bring out the other one and having the patron ask three times for the missing appetizer. It is not okay to make patrons wait for 15 minutes for their check after they have asked for it twice (as I overheard at the disgruntled table next to us), NOR is it okay to blame the patron for your own mistake.
And certainly, it is not okay to come up and ask the table that you have neglected all night, if you can take something off the check to make us for the horrible service they have received. You either have the manager take something off or you ignore the situation, but you do not put the customer in that position!
Obviously, we are never returning to Spazio and will let others know that they should not waste their money on a place that has no respect for food and their customers.

A very special night out
Posted by cd8me on 04/25/2009
I recently spent an evening of great music, well-poured drinks, and delicious food at Spazio's in Sherman Oaks,CA. I was very satisfied with the Stardust Martini as well as the Pistacio Crusted Salmon and the bartender made me feel at home. The music was pleasant and I even recognized some of the songs. I would come back again and again. I was told that Spazio's will be offering a Happy Hour starting in May. In addition, they were very excited about their upcoming wine tasting evenings. I almost forgot but the desserts at Spazio's are extraordinary. They offer a "Profiterole" made from scratch and tastes like Heaven. Spazio's is a gem hidden in San Fernando Valley.

Another Victim...
Posted by thutmose7656 on 02/16/2009
As mentioned... Recent service and food was horrible, no doubt. But the real disappointment was the lack of response by management. Restaurants have bad nights, we know that. And sometimes the staff is required to actually do their jobs and make customers feel comfortable, regardless of their problems in the kitchen. Management should do us all favor and resign. Respect your hard-earned money enough to not throw it away on businesses that don't deserve it.
