    Best Brunch!

We loved this place. Gorgeous court yard, excellent service, and outstanding food. Super reasonably priced, especially if you don't order alcohol. One of our favorites!

Romance in the middle of the French Quarter

    Posted by uwslaura on 05/17/2007

We stumbled upon this restaurant while we were walking around one day, and immediately made reservations for the next night. The restaurant is run out of a historic carriage house, with the kitchen located on the second floor. I recommend eating in the courtyard, weather permitting. The candlelit courtyard has tables scattered among the vegetation, so you can sit 7 feet away from the next table, yet feel completely secluded. The staff is extremely friendly, the ambience was incredible and the food was delicious. We had a mixed berry cobbler for dessert, and it was amazing. The menu is a bit limited, but only because the restaurant focuses on using fresh, local ingredients. They had live music the night we went, and the sound level was perfect - loud enough to hear, but not so loud that it intruded on our conversation - a rarety in the French Quarter, where every other restaurant seemed to have the music blasting at ridiculous levels.

Perfect spot for a romantic evening

    Posted by emilynf1 on 05/15/2007

Cafe Amelie is a quiet restaurant tucked away in the French Quarter. We actually stumbled upon it by accident when looking for a romantic place to have dinner. It has a mellow ambience from the moment you walk into its secluded patio. The restaurant is candlelit and the service is very welcoming. While it is quite pricey, the food and drinks are delicious. Cafe Amelie offers a small menu including roast duck and steak as well, but it is all very good. Overall a great find for any romantic night for two.
