    The Best People Work Here

My pet cat of nine years had to be put down today due to illness. A sweeter kitty would be hard to find. I was in tears because I had to do the responsible thing. The Vet wanted $50.00 to see my kitty. Then another $120.00 to put him down. This after I had already spent $2000.00 about 18 months ago on an operation. My cat couldn't urinate very well and I knew it was time for him to be put down. He was in distress. So I called Golden Valley Humane Society. They asked only $50.00 to do the deed. I took off from work and brought my pet there to end it all. The Staff were very kind to me and my kitty. There was no guilt trip like at the Vet. The Staff understood that it was an act of mercy to end my kitty's suffering. In about 20 min they returned my cat to me in the box that I had given them. The young tech. said to me that he was sorry for my loss. I took my kitty home and buried him in my back yard. I would like to Thank the Kindly People at Golden Valley Humane Society. They helped make a very sad day end with less pain for my sweet kitty and I. Animal Humane Society, they are also Humane to greiving pet owners when that day must come, In the circle of life.

    This place has integrity

I will be forever grateful to this organization. They have been the source of three wonderful dogs, for me, and helped me when I could no longer keep a cat. Look on their website for an excellent article on what non-euthanizing shelters are really about, compared to their own open acceptance shelter policy. (Most anyone who has tried to take an animal to such a shelter knows how they can make that claim: they just simply won't take animals that are problematic or may need euthanizing. In other words, they leave the dirty work for someone else: they may not euthanize pets, but they don't welcome them either.) This shelter is wide open to the community, and serves it well. The costs provide them with resources for the animals, and I suspect little more. They are, after all, a non-profit organization. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a new pet, or needing help with one that can't be kept for whatever reason.

    Horrible Place

I went to this facilty to in hopes of finding a new home for a loving, cuddly family member who began acting up later on in my pregnancy. This facility not only ripped me off a ridiculous fee but also took the animal in under false pretenses. They said they would examine the animal and determine if she was adoptable or not. There was no health examination, they simply eye-balled the cat and said she did not meet their criteria even though she is young, has had all her shots, and has no other problems, behavior or health prior to my pregnancy. They said they would either euthanize her or I could pick her up. Those were my options. How horrible they do not even give the animals a health examination to determine if problems exist, they simply would euthanize them. I would never recommend this facility to take in pets or adopt from. This is suppose to be a safe haven for animals to find a new home, not a place to take your animals to be put under.
