I went into Salon Blue in November 08 for the first time with severely damaged hair - damage that came out of nowhere. It was so bad that I nearly cried every time I had to style my hair. I knew that I needed an expert, senior level stylist so I chose one of the owners of Salon Blue, MK. In five minutes I knew that I found my hair saviour.
MK examined my hair, prescribed a treatment program, gave me the best cut to accommodate/mask the damage, told me what to do and not to do and how we would manage my hair going forward to get it healthy. Within only a few months, my hair began to return to a normal, healthy state. I now have a full, healthy, shiny head of hair, not to mention great color and cut.
You get what you pay for ladies. I had been paying what I now know to be junior level stylists way too much money and getting nothing useful in return except over processing and wrong product suggestions.

I love this place! I am super picky about my hair and I have never been completely satisfied anywhere. Until I started going to Salon Blue. Mary Kay gives me the best cuts and color I've ever had and also is really concerned about the health of my hair, which is a huge bonus. I've been every color imaginable and when I started going here my hair was really dry and just done. She helped me coax it back to health by convincing me to give up permanent hair color and switch to semi-permanent. She really takes the time to talk to me about what I want and what's best for my hair and I love that.

Amazing Experience All Around

After waiting one year to grow out a bad haircut, I was excited to get a fresh start at new salon and with a new stylist. Salon Blue in Bucktown came highly recommended from a friend and was the perfect choice. From the moment I arrived at Salon Blue, I loved the ultra cool, laid-back feel of the salon. The staff was extremely professional, accommodating and friendly. From the shampoo (which felt amazing) to the consultation and haircut with Katrina, I was overwhelmed with my experience. Katrina took time to listen to my hair tale of woo and she gave me the exact cut that I wanted and helped me pick out some great Bumble and Bumble products to ensure it would look great when I styled it. It was fantastic!! I am very happy with my choice to trust Salon Blue with my hair. I will be going back to get some more services and will be referring my friends and family.

Great at coloring!

I had Yvonne highlight my hair yesterday and she did a really great job! I have really dark brown, almost black hair and had never highlighted it before. She sat down with me before she started and talked about different color options and gave me some suggestions for my hair type/color. It ended up looking really natural and now I want more highlights! I would highly suggest going to her for any highlights or coloring it turned out great.
The whole staff is really friendly, I had about 15 minutes before my appointment started when I got there so I got an eyebrow wax and they did a great job on that as well. I will definitely go back!

I had been going to Salon 1800 for some time but wanted something a little closer to home so I went in for a gloss with Katrina while she was still a student (paid only $20). The staff was SO relaxed, pleasant and trendy so I decided to go back for a cut. I was sold. The first girl I went to moved away so Yolanda now cuts my hair and she's great! In my experience, every stylist will take the time out to give you some trendy tips to style your hair and you will walk out feeling great. I've always been able to get in within a day (if not that day) of calling. Not to mention, they'll give you a free make-up consult with any service. Hello!

Great Atmosphere, Awesome Hair Cut!

Friendly, Upbeat, Attentive, Professional are few words I would use to describe everyone that I came in contact with while enjoying my experience at Salon Blue. I have super long hair and wanted a long layered haircut and Katrina gave me exactly what I asked for. Great conversation with Yolanda who shampooed & dried my hair. Great haircut, great service & just a nice experience all the way around. I will be getting color there as well. They carry Bumble & Bumble products which are top of the line and great hair care products. I think Salon Blue can handle just about any request so if you are new to chicago like me or you are just looking for a salon you can trust, I would call and make an appointment with them.

Don't waste your money!!

What a terrible experience I had at this salon.
Trust me and save your money! I just got one of the worst hair colors Ive ever had in my life. And, to top it all off, I paid a fortune for it.
As I kept saying, I hate it, I hate it, they kept saying, Oh, its cute, Oh its cute.
I wanted to scream.
Also, the first day of my color my hair felt great but just 4 days later, its so dry.
A big huge mess!!!! Ive tried to call and speak to someone. I either get no answer or a very rude girl at the front desk.
Save your money!

Waxing

I have a friend that got her legs waxed here. Though the pain must have been amazing, she does have very nice legs now after a couple treatments. This place also offers other services like manicures and pedicures, but does amazing things with your skin. They have a treatment that will even make your skin look shinier.

The Best haircut in years!!!!!!!!!!!

This was one of the best haircuts in a looooong time. I just had a BAD haircut somewhere else 4 wks ago, and I walked out with wet hair, and no clue how to style it . Fed up I went to see Emily Rogers in Bucktown and got the BEST haircut ever. I walked out of there looking for the red carpet. She gave me ideas and explained how to style my hair. I would highly recommend anyone to see her. I have long layered hair, but she is also very talented with short hair too. ( my co-worker is Emily's client also) Everyone at Salon Blue was very friendly! I will be back :)
