The Best Pizza EVER!
Posted by c0ffee-nic0tine on 02/25/2008
Gianni's seriously has the best pizza I've ever had! The pie's are loaded with fresh toppings and are delivered to your table piping hot. The crust is just right and the sauce is so tasty. You can tell Gianni's is a family favorite as soon as you walk in the door.

Best pie in the West!

Try a loaded pie with artichoke hearts! I know, it sounds gross, but it's delicious! I've lived all over the country and this is my favorite pizza place!

Bill Clinton???? What the heck does he know about good pizza... he's from ARKANSAS!
I suppose if this is the BEST pizza in Monterey, then that explains all the skinny people here.
I never had such bad ACIDA (that's ITALIAN for acid indigestion) in my life. The sauce is overwhelming and very acidy. The crust is thick, bready and chewy. We are from Brooklyn, and I guess you could call us "PIZZA SNOBS", but we earned the right to be critical.
And the price.. what are they smoking out on the "Penninsula"? $21.00 for a pie?? Lombardi's in Little Italy (that's the REAL Little Italy in NYC) charges $14.00 for an 18" and local places charge around $10.00 or $12.00. My local place on Wednesdays has an 18" pie for about $8.00. I guess price gouging is a way of life in Monterey.

Obviously, never been to NYC
Posted by coolmom1265 on 09/24/2007
Obviously, the people who cook, own, or eat at this place have never been to NYC... We are pizza EXPERTS and this place just doesn't make the grade.
Sauce so full of acid, it hurt. But, the price... that was a killer... who the heck ever heard of pizza costing over $20.00 for a pie..... well, I guess that's Monterey for you....

Great Pizza- Worth the wait!
Posted by sbkakans on 11/13/2005
This is one of the best pizzas I have ever had. The crust is lighter then most and slightly chewy. If you have a family, the Big Wheel Pizza offers great variety. My fav. The Pizza Margarite. The wait can be a little long, but well worth it!

Native New Yorker gives a thumbs down!
Posted by hairymonkey on 05/06/2005
I was very unimpressed with the taste and quality of the pizza.I thaught the sauce was very sour, acidic, and not well seasoned. The dough was average and the pizza was ill prepared.I also tried the meatball sub which was average. It still lacked the taste and quality that I was looking for. There was not enough sauce or cheese on the sub. This is a poor imitation of NY style pizza!

Super Family Pizza

Great place to enjoy great food and great music. A family owned and operated restaurant, all food is freshly made to order in 15-20 minutes upon arrival. Has a back room for larger groups 20-25 that can be reserved ahead of time, or on the spot when not packed, which it usually is Friday/Saturday evenings.
