Best Taste and Price for Denver Indian Food

    Posted by dasherb on 11/09/2008

My husband and I love good Indian food and were delighted to find this little cozy family-owned place after we moved to the area over a year ago. We've been to some of the more expensive Indian restaurants, some that are far more trendy places, but always find the food to be inferior to Taste of India. And, the price is higher at the other places. I also like the fact they have their own parking lot, and I don't have to worry about meters and circling the block to find a spot. The restaurant is usually relatively quiet and a great place to take a group. The booths are comfy and the decor is modest. Buffet night on Tuesdays is a good time to go and try it out, although we prefer to order one of the Thalis (combination dishes) off the menu which is plenty of food for two people. Their vegetarian options are especially tasty! The lady and her husband who own this restaurant are lovely people. She may come off as abrupt, yet efficient upon your first visit or two, but take time to talk with her briefly and you will find her to be very nice. She delights in seeing you enjoy their food! My husband and I prefer to visit family-owned and local establishments. This is one of Denver's best if you are seeking good food without pretense.

    Great neighborhood family place

    Posted by Laurencita on 07/14/2008

I'm hooked on this place. Both of us have a lot of experience with Indian food (I grew up with an Indian family) and we both LOVE it. It's inexplicably quiet/not full, but you know you've found "authentic" when you see Indian families there for their own celebrations. Great local gem in the Glendale neighborhood. Eat a really early lunch and come VERY hungry because you WILL end up eating until you feel like you'll pop. The menu is broad enough that everyone will find something; we usually order one combo ('thali') and one entree and end up with plenty of leftovers. The only drawback is the 24hour news playing on the TV in the corner but you'll be so happy that you won't really notice it. If you're concerned about spice then order a mango lassi to drink with your meal; I disagree with the person who posted that their food is too spicy. You can always ask for it to be mild (and they ask how you want it).

Great food! Great service! A true mom and pop Indian restaurant!

    Posted by SerEEna on 05/21/2008

I went with 8 other people and we all loved what we ordered. The food was great, and our server, which we beleive was the owner, took care of us like only a caring mother would, running back and forth from the kitchen with our multiple orders. BOTTOM LINE: If your looking forward to a nice relaxing evening with great food this is the place to go. Just be aware, I think others might not have been impressed with the service because they were in a rush (atleast that is my and my friend's working theory). This is more of a "nice relaxing authentic indian food dinner night" sort of deal :) I will definatley be back :)

Awesome food especially for us veg-heads, not the place for drinks

    Posted by DTownDreamer on 03/01/2008

I had my first Indian food experience at Taste of India and overall it was a good experience. In the beginning it seemed as if service was going to be terrible, but the older woman (I'm assuming one of the owners) apparently just needs to warm up to you. I ordered a Crown and Coke and I'm pretty sure there was a 1/2 oz of Crown in it at most (as I saw her pour, and experienced the lack of taste). And no ice?! But, I'm a vegetarian and I have to say the mixed vegetables were fabulous. So much so that I continued to stuff myself well after I was full. The spices were impeccable. It's very quiet (not very busy at all) so definitely the place to go if you're in a hurry and want some quick, yummy, inexpensive Indian food!

    Good Buffet / Convenient

    Posted by bhaskel on 10/06/2006

I've been here several times - ordered both off the menu and had the buffet. Good food, okay service. The older male owner is pretty crabby, but his wife is nice. It's a great buffet, easy access from Leetsdale, easy parking and close to home. I've had better food, but can't beat the convenience. There are rarely more than one or two tables any time I've been there, so service is fairly quick. I wouldn't drive out of my way for this, but good basic Indian food.

    POOR EXPERIENCE

    Posted by jack786 on 09/16/2006

We thought the service was extremely rude. The plates and silverware was not washed, we decided to leave but due to rush hour decided to order and settle for what was to come. The food was overtly spicy, and did not appeal to us. We have tasted Indian food many many times, but this seemed to be the worst of all. We ordered some naan bread, it was cold and hard. We decided to just leave.

India-na Jones and the temple of YUM

We went to this humble-looking Indian restaurant not really knowing what to expect. We were greeted by friendly smiles and the absolutely mind-blowing scent of authentic Indian food (if you've ever really craved it, you know what I mean!). We were seated at a comfortable booth and soon had our food an our mango lassi (yogurt drink). The food tasted as good as it smelled- maybe even better. Trust me: try the chicken korma. You'll love it! Also, the Tuesday night buffet is not to be missed. Not the fanciest atmosphere, but the riendly service and awesome food more than make up for it. This place was an instant favorite for us..
