Run don't walk away
Posted by ezryder on 05/05/2009
We pulled into the end of a very vacant parking area at Dante’s On The River restaurant to take a quick picture of a deteriorating cabin on the opposite side of the river. Signs posted at each parking space that denoted private parking for restaurant patrons only, understandable. But what was a little over the top was the posting that it would cost $30.00 to stop there. We were not there 2 minutes when this guy came running from the restaurant screaming “this is private property you need to pay me $30.00 to stop here, can’t you read the fu**ing signs”. I told him the parking was empty and I just took 1 picture and we would be moving on. He continued to yell expletives as we drove away. This guy needs a checkup from the neckup! PS…I think they were closed. With this sort of patronage I believe we will not attempt to dine there…ever!

Run from this place!

Don’t take your kids to this restaurant. Pulled in front because my child was having asthma attach and this guy ran out and started yelling and screaming. I told him it will just be a minute. He started yelling “Get the F off my property. I don’t care if your kid is sick” This all happened with three kids under 6 watching. People like this should be put out of business.
The see a picture of this a hole go to:

Lady owner is RUDE!
Posted by travelers2008 on 07/08/2008
My husband and I stopped there because I was feeling car sick on the way to Tahoe. I had been sitting in the backseat with my 3 month old son (he's fussy), and wanted to move up to the front since my son was sleeping. We pulled into Dante's so I could switch seats. My husband also got out of the car to stretch his legs. I saw a lady (which I later realized was the owner) that appeared to work there walking up to the car with a purpose as I was getting out. I immediately noticed the overkill of signs plastered along the fence (something about there being a ridiculously high fine for stopping to be enforced 24/7). She asked if she could help us in a rude tone. I told her I was feeling a bit nauseated. She then proceeded to say, "please don't throw up on the rose bushes." I was wondering if she was serious as I saw no smile. I asked her if she was serious. She replied, "yes I am serious, people pull over to throw up on them all of the time." I was shocked at how cold and callous she was. Dumbfounded I said, "WOW, that is a really rude thing to say." My husband and I immediately got into our car and went on our way. We have thought about stopping there to eat several times in the past but it was usually closed. Now we know better!!! I would stay clear of this restaurant since the owners are SO rude!

Wow. Just had lunch at Dante's and all I can say is: Amazing. Chicken parm sandwich was huge and magnificent, ceasar salad fresh and perfect, bread just wonderful. Don't pass up a chance to try this place. Worth it in every way

Great food and atmosphere overlooking the American River. Dine on the back deck over looking the river during good weather.
