Premier Jazz Restaurant and bar!

As my wife and I walked down Decatur street I looked through the windows of club 300 and noticed a Jazz Quintet playing inside. We were both bored, and the night was still young, so we asked the doorman if we could see a drink menu. The four-page brochure-menu convinced me, so we decided to go in and sit at the bar. Before letting us go, the doorman stopped us and gave us brochures for the Jazz Bistro with a coupon for a free Black Widow Martini attached. That was even better!
The atmosphere was delightful A dim red glow saturated the restaurant. The wrought-iron bar stools were not the most comfortable in the world, but were sturdy and matched the decor nicely. The dining floor lay just a few feet down from the stage, and was checkered with small bistro tables with white linen cloth, designed for a romantic dinner for two. This section looked as if it could be converted into a dance floor, as there were racks of lights and a disco ball about 50 feet above. There were couches and a lovely lounging area just to the left of the stage, and also a second floor up above, providing a balcony for those crowded jazz nights.
As I sipped my pair of Miller Lites and my wife her Black Widow Martini, we watched as the Mary Jane Ewing Jazz Quintet played on stage, comprised of a singer (Mary Jane), bass, drums, piano, and tenor sax. It was lovely, easy-listening music - the kind more exciting than elevator music, but not enough to make you want to get up and dance. For our drinks, we spent only $14, six of which were part of the $3 per person fee during Jazz nights. Not bad for a few drinks and 2 hours of live music.
On a separate note: the menu was very pricey. Fortunately, we had already eaten dinner that night, but from what I saw the plates were very elegant.
