Everybody's got to go to the Colonnade at least once
Posted by bb_s on 02/25/2009
I have to give this three stars. Why? The food really isn?t that great but then it isn't always about the food. This place is a real melting pot(t) with diversity being the word of the day. First, the wait staff. Pretty much all of them are real characters with Eric being a real stand out. What a nice man. One practically expects to see a hankie corsage on the gals but I digress. Second the eclectic customers. Expect to be comfortable with a well behaved and diverse (there, I said it again) crowd. Third, the food. Ok, so I said it wasn't that great. But, I've heard that there's a new chef and the specials sounded pretty tasty last time I was there. Naturally there are regulars that swear by this place. I'm not one of them. But, with the exception of the crab cakes which were notably really awful, I've never had a meal I didn't finish. So, if you want decent food at a decent price make sure you check this place out.

Over Priced/Poor Quality
Posted by Gladecia on 02/03/2008
One of the managers is very difficult to deal with when presenting our being overcharged for our food and not receiving items we ordered.
I once ate at the Colonnade every week, sometimes several times a week for almost 10yrs and am sad to say they have priced their food too high and the quality of the food is very poor now.
There's nothing under $11.25 except a Chef's Salad and a hamburger!
There are plenty of Meat and Two places to eat that are just as good and better with menu prices that properly accommodate.
Try Silver Grill, Mammys, The Highlander, Sons, Mary Macs!

The best of the best in comfort food

We visited the Colonnade a few weeks ago and I have been dreaming of it ever since. The Colonnade is a traditional meat-n-three and good meat-n-threes are hard to find anymore. Drinks are inexpensive and service is friendly but to the point. My favorite part of the meal was the warm yeast rolls...I can't wait to go back for those! I had the fried chicken with mac&cheese and cole slaw, and my hubs had the beef short ribs and loaded smashed potatoes. The chicken was divine and so were the short ribs. Sides were just ok, but they have such a wide variety to choose from that I'm sure I'll find something I love soon enough. I like that they offer nice fresh salads as well. Nice menu selection and prices are competitive.

An Atlanta Institution

You gotta love a place that considers fried okra and macaroni and cheese "vegetables." This is a traditional Southern restaurant that serves a meat and two sides. The chicken fried steak is as good as you wil find anywhere, but I never seem to resist the fried chicken. The restaurant does not accept credit cards, so remember to bring cash.

Great Southern Food With A Hoot!
Posted by jaymaygm on 07/06/2006
I've been eating here for the past twenty-five years and love it. It's Southern Food like your mother never could cook, but your grandmother did. Starting with the wonderful homemade yeast rolls, lettuce wedge w/blue cheese dressing, and the fresh seafood platter. The vegetable sides are fresh and killer. For a great finish, try the coconut creame pie. And the best most diversified group of patrons in the city. Love the waitress, when she calls "hon". They don't make them like this anymore!

Old School Style

The formula at Colonnade is simple and it works. Good, unpretentious southern food, generous portions, reasonable prices, friendly and experienced service, and a great mix of patrons. This is not your trendy midtown or buckhead eatery, and it doesn't try to be. Colonnade is a always a good choice; its familiar and consistent. Snobby foodies may turn their nose up at this place; but they must be doing something right becasue the place is always packed.

Delightful

A group of friends and I ate at the restaurant for my birthday. It was our first time there and it was a great experience. The service was excellent and the food was awesome. We even got a visit from the head chef. The staff is very personable and the dining room and lounge are very condusive to conversation. My only complaint is that they are very crowded. I will definitely call ahead next time. Besides the long wait I would recommend The Colonnade to anyone.

Delicious

The food at the Colonnade is excellent, no doubt about it. The fried chicken is perfect, the pot roast is tender, the sides are just how they're supposed to be; this is all Southern cooking at its finest. The rolls to start off your meal are warm and fresh and the desserts are the best I've ever had. The Colonnade is worth trying--and you'll come back again, too!
