GENERAL INFORMATION:
Established in 1961 as a unit of the State University of New York, Monroe Community College was a vision shared by a handful of industrious and determined business people, community leaders and government officials. MISSION: The mission of Monroe Community College is to provide access to high quality education and training programs to a diverse community. Student success is the College's highest priority. Associations
ACCREDITATION: MCC is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the unit of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools that accredits degree-granting colleges and universities in the Middle States region, which includes Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands. Curricula are registered and approved by the New York State Department of Education and the State University of New York. MCC is a member of the League for Innovation in the Community College. The League provides direction and leadership for experimentation and innovation in two-year colleges. Its members are recognized as the best community colleges in the United States and Canada.
Location
Rochester is the third largest city in New York state and the county seat of Monroe County. The city is located on the Genesee River near its outlet to Lake Ontario. MCC's Brighton Campus is located on a 300-acre site just outside the city limits of Rochester in Brighton, NY. The College also encompasses the Applied Technologies Center, programs at the Public Safety Training Facility, and courses online and at five extension sites in Fairport, Greece, Honeoye Falls-Lima, Spencerport and Webster.
Amenities
CAMPUSES: MCC's Brighton Campus is located on a 300-acre site just outside the city limits of Rochester in Brighton, NY. The campus includes 16 academic, administrative and athletic buildings, the Alice Holloway Young Commons (residential halls), and the MCC Child Care Center. The Damon City Campus is a 200,000 square foot facility located in the heart of downtown Rochester. Weekday, evening, Saturday and summer classes are held here, for the convenience of those who live and work in the city. The College also encompasses the Applied Technologies Center, programs at the Public Safety Training Facility, and courses on line and at five extension sites in Fairport, Greece, Honeoye Falls-Lima, Spencerport and Webster.
