Horribly disappointed
Posted by muwarrior on 09/22/2008
I have been to Bjonda in the past and enjoyed the setting/food. I recently returned to find the restaurant with a new name and I believe new ownership. It is now called Firefly. I have never been treated so poorly . I was there on a Thursday after work. To sum up the experience, the waitress was rude and made us feel we were putting her out as she told us she "was not supposed to have our table but was told to come here". She took our drink orders and gave us water but never came back!! We left after 55 minutes. Our drinks never came and we did not even have an opportunity to order food. When we went to complain to a manager, we were ignored (the person at the hostess table was on the phone and would not acknowlege us although we stood there several minutes). I tried e-mailing the restaurant twice and did not get a response. The atmosphere is still as nice as Bjonda but if you actually wanted to have a drink and/or appetizers, do not come to this place. (When we attempted to walk up to the bar to order drinks, we were told a waitress would be with us shortly!)
I am not going back under the current ownership!! Very disappointed because I USED to enjoy going there. Highly recommend going to one of the many other establishments in the Tosa Village. (By the way, I never have posted on a site like this before. However, I was so irritated that I felt compelled to do so today!)

best atmosphere in the city
Posted by kellerfan on 01/21/2007
their decor is progressively modern in a fashion unmatched in milwaukee. it is a large part of making Bjonda one of the best date places in the city. the food is elegant, but a little pricey in the dining room. the dishes are excessible though. not over the top fancy in a way that can't be understood. the bar is my favorite place to take my dates. the service is top notch and informative.

Excellent for an intimate dinner or a large party!

I have been to Bjonda many times with small groups and was always impressed by the level of service and quality of food. Our company recently reserved one of the front dining rooms for a party of 35 and Bjonda did not miss a beat! We enjoyed the same prompt, courteous service and the food was amazing. They can do it all!

Tastefully Surprised
Posted by redcynergy on 06/16/2005
Our experience was wonderful - I was astonished by the very beautiful and unique interior. The skylight room, which is the back of the restaurant, draws you in to the lush surroundings. The bar in this room is huge and engaging. They have a few cozy, private rooms for larger groups - both elegantly appointed with surprising details. The food was scrumptious, altho very pricey. But they do have a tasting menu that looked just as delectable. Service was A++. Overall, I shall be returning... several times!

Best Bar in Milwaukee
Posted by mkefoodie on 03/13/2005
The Bar is fantastic. They serve a limited menu in the bar after the resturaunt portion is closed. The bar atmosphere is modern with good music. It almost feels like NYC. Bring a date here if you want to chill and talk.
The regular menu has some interesting sounding dishes but they seem to fall short. The quality is good but there seems to be something missing. If I had to guess I would point the finger at the preparation. Items were sometimes cold and the same dish differs from order to order. For the price I think there are better places.

FIRST CLASS ALL THE WAY
Posted by jkiz on 02/14/2005
After dining at Bjonda on Valentine's Day, I came to realize that the last time I was treated with such fantastic food and equally fantastic service, was our 1st Wedding Anniversary back in 2003, when we dined at the "French Laundry" in California's Napa Valley. After an evening filled with many wonderful flavors, we were given a tour of the restaurant including the kitchen where we were introduced to the chef, Jason Ferraro, and the rest of the kitchen staff. Oh! and also the cleanliness of the restaurant including the kitchen was a joy to see. Keep up the good work!!!!!! We will be back.

Amazing!

Bjonda is, by far, the most stunning restaurant in town. It's truly Milwaukee meets Manahattan. From the chic interior to the perfect food and service, I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great night.

This is possibly the best place in the city! The food was incredible, as was the service, atmosphere and, most importantly...the cocktails! You will not leave disappointed!
