    Very Good

    essential independent movie theatre

Posted by Ben B. on 08/18/2005

The movie theatre upstairs at Canal Place, across from Harrah's Casino is, with the exception of the Prytania Theatre (sometimes), the only theatre in New Orleans offering showings of independent films as well as international imports. For those trying to catch non-mainstream movies on the big screen, Canal Place is the place to go.

    A landmark theater...........

Canal Place shows independent and foreign films. Occasionally some popular movies. It is handicapped accessible from the outside of the canal place shopping center. But it's better to take the glass elevator inside the store to the second floor and go to the end of the food court and get in. It's easier and you can purchase your tickets ahead of time. The theater is roomy.

    What a weird experience

    Posted by taylor30350 on 09/12/2004

This movie theatre was not what I expected going into Canal Place which is very high dollar shops, etc. It was a strange "little" (literally) theatre that was cramped and concession stand was really weird, the have to prepare food for you while you wait (i.e., a "hot" pretzel has to be dipped in salt, then mircrowaved, then if you want mustard, they put it in a paper hotdog holder thingy), too weird. Just not the "typical" movie theatre that I'm used to!!! The seats were REALLY cramped and the threatre we were in was REALLY small, and FREEZING cold!!!
