NEW MANAGMENT AND COOKS -- Fabulous food and service !!!
Posted by penelope16 on 08/15/2008
READ THIS: Himalayas is under new management and has new chefs since July 2008, so all reviews before that date are no longer accurate!!
I ate there tonight, and was so impressed with the food that I created an account to review it! The service was fast, and both people who waited on us were incredibly helpful in suggesting things, offering to bring us more rice as soon as we ran out, etc. We had lovely conversations with our main waiter. And, the food was delicious!! The naan was good, the saag paneer was great, and the chicken dish my friend got (unfortunately I can't remember the name, began with an M), was incredible. I appreciated that they asked us how spicy we wanted our dishes, and then spiced it at the perfect levels for each of us (very hot for my friend and medium for me). The papadams and the raita, chutney, etc. that came with them were excellent too.
All in all, it was a wonderful meal, and the service was so fast and the wait staff and host so friendly and kind -- I will definitely come here when I want Indian/Nepali food in Boulder!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Worst indian/nepalese food i've ever had, and i've been to at least 50 restaurants in this category

I've been here 3 times (once for dinner and twice for lunch buffet) because i really wanted to give this place a chance. The last time i visited was the last time i'll ever visit. This has to be the world's BLANDEST food (and no i'm not a hot food freak). It just has no flavor and no texture. I've actually had vegetable dishes on this buffet that tasted downright bad, or just had no taste at all. I'm really not a very picky person either. After 3 tries, each one obtaining rather bad food, i really wonder how others can enjoy this at all. I even had an Indian friend of mine go with me once and he too was pretty shocked at how horribly seasoned the food was.
The people who work here seem nice and i wish i could say they had better food, but this is the last place in Colorado i'd go for Indian/ Nepalese food. Go to Maharaja, Tandoori Grill, or Yak & Yeti (Westminster) instead.

Himalaya's has extremely tasty food and is a great place to go for a special occasion. It's a comfortable place to enjoy a good meal with friends and family. I have always enjoyed my meals here.

Excellent Food!

I frequent this restaurant often and I have yet to be disappointed. The food is very delicious! I'm a huge fan of their Saag thus I only really go during lunch (I don't believe they have Saag on their dinner buffet). Like the other review, the buffet items sometimes run out at times, but believe me, I'm sure they are in the back cooking hard as Indian food isn't exactly the quickest of meals to prepare. But usually a short wait and everything is re-supplied for your enjoying.

I love the food, service is not always the best

I love their food! I always overeat when I come here. They don't refill the buffet trays often enough, and they don't check on the tables often enough, I've gone without a fork for 10 minutes, while the rest of the table ate, I scooped what I could with a teaspoon, waiting for a clean fork. They're nice, though.
