Absolutely the BEST gyros in Denver

    Posted by fitnesspunklinz on 08/08/2009

I LOVE this restaurant! I am a repeat customer on their delicious Gyros and Hummus. However, I am sure everything else there tastes wonderful too. The family who owns it is so sweet and kind, they remember me everytime I come in. Thats all I have to say! I go here a couple times every week and will continue to do so! Thank you shish kebob grill!

    Good

    Great Food

    Posted by MyThoughts on 05/30/2009

Although the food was out of this world the service really ruined my experience. I've had so many friends talk this place up that I was thoroughly excited. When I walked in i expected a "warm welcome" as I knew it was family owned. Instead, I was given a look like I was inconveniencing the young guy because he had to get up off his stool. He then proceeded to be curt and rude while taking my order until his friend came threw the door. At this point I pretty much no longer existed, and taking the remainder of my order clearly became second priority. With service i've come to expect from most family owned restaurants in the area, Shish Kabob has been downgraded, in my book, from 5 stars to 3. All 3 for the food alone.

I've found the best Middle Eastern restaurant in Denver right here!!

    Posted by MartinSJ on 02/26/2009

Having grown up on homemade Middle Eastern food, this is the best I have had in Denver... The business is family owned and they are warm, welcoming and take pride in offering the best... The hummus was the creamiest I have ever had was delightful all around. The falafel was excellent and the greek salad with chicken was enough for both lunch and dinner! They served this chicken with this garlic sauce/paste, that was out of this world! Bottom line, having been looking for the best Middle Eastern restaurant in Denver, I can now retire my efforts! Jackpot!! (As far any negative comments about service, I had great service and even if I hadn't , I'd have been willing to been inconvenienced for this food!!)

My favorite Middle Eastern food in Denver

I've been going to Shish Kabob Grill since it opened. There is nothing I don't love about the place...the family who owns it is friendly and warm and remembers a face. The lentil soup, hummus and tabouli especially stand out and all of the food is made to order with a very homemade taste. They are open late, are reasonably priced and have a genuine appreciation for their customers. Two big thumbs up!

    Best Gyro in Denver....Hands Down!

    Posted by Tanglelegged on 11/30/2008

I have eaten gyros all over Denver, from Middle Eastern to Greek style, and this is easily the best! I have brought many of my friends to this restaurant and they all agree. They are a must order. The desserts are all homemade and there are plenty to choose from...all excellent. Don't forget to get some of the Morrocan tea with your meal!

Best hummous ever - and I've been to Turkey & Morocco!

    Posted by landshark70 on 04/28/2008

This is a small, very clean restaurant which appears family owned. The owner clearly takes pride in the place - it is very simple yet very tidy and 'homey'. The main chef is a woman who, I'm pretty sure, makes everything herself - from the creamy, rich, flavorful hummous to the divine pita to the flaky baklava. Boy, can she cook. I've been here several times and have never been disappointed. The food here has become the object of craving, the hummous particularly. It is sublime. Lots of people seem to rave about 'Istanbul' restaurant which has received lots of awards but that place has not got a PATCH on Shish Kabob Grill (in my humble opinion). I'm afraid to leave this review because I don't want this gem of a restaurant to become over-run, but the folks that run it deserve big kudos.

If Paradise has caterers, Shish Kabob Grill must be one of them

The food at Shish Kabob Grill is heavenly ... I actually struggle to find words that convey that celestial experience of my palate, as words simply cannot do justice to Shish Kabob Grill. Go there, order something, and experience it yourself. On my next trip to Denver I will eat at Shish Kabob Grill again.

    Worst customer service, ever, anywhere...

    Posted by Kdenver on 02/01/2008

The food here is not bad, generally, but the owner is awful. I had delivery, it took an hour and a half to get here and then the delivery guy, who happens to be the owner, said that I live more than three miles away. I verified my address with the lady who took the order several times, so it sounds like their problem anyway. When I told the guy that he said that I knew that it was too far, right, he says this like he's looking for a fight (I'm a little 20 year old girl). I looked on Mapquest and it is only 2.67 miles, I'd call and complain, but the problem is the owner. What are you going to do?

Middle Eastern food that is home made, delicate flavors and owner run

    Posted by wrenram on 01/05/2008

I was in heaven after the meal! The combination plate I ordered was one amazing taste after another. The saffron rice was the best rice I've ever had! My husband and I will go back to this restaurant every time we are in Denver. It's an easy walk up from the east end of the 16th Street Mall. The owner's wife does the cooking and the food has that kind of flavor. We were there on a Sunday night at the end of September, and wished we weren't moving on to the second leg of our trip so we could eat there again. Thank you Omar and thank your wife for us, again.
