Appalling Service and Management
Posted by MissUSA on 05/29/2009
Last night I experienced a nightmare that I do not wish to repeat again, ever. I arrived at the restaurant with just enough time to eat, and make an appointment I had scheduled. When I did not receive service for 20 minutes - not even offered a glass of water I realized no one knew I was there, so I kindly asked a waitress to take my order. She admitted that indeed no server was aware that I had been sitting there, then diappeared for a period of time. I then asked for the manager, and told him I had been there for 25 minutes. He ignored me, choosing instead to assist people who had just walked in the door. I then walked up to him and told him that even at Denny's they offer a piece of free pie to customers when they screw up. The manager Javier said "We don't give away food." When I asked him if everyone else was eating except me, could it be that it was because I was a single woman dining alone, he told me to GO TO HELL. I am wondering if Roxy's has a pattern of discriminating against women the same way that Denny's did to blacks. I am still burned up about it the following day, especially after reading other scathing reviews. I have never been treated so rudely in my entire life.

Not a good place to go
Posted by ChewyBoy on 02/26/2009
I recently had a bad first time visit with my parents the other day. It took about 10 minutes until we were noticed by our waitress and our drink order was taken. When the food came 2 of the 3 meals came with the wrong sides. The other meal, a turkey sandwich had no mayo or mustard and was DRY,DRY,DRY. When I went to the restroom I overheard 2 of the waitresses in the back making fun of and mocking 1 of the customers for having a stuttering problem. That was the final straw for me. This place has bad service and behind your back rude employees. Brents Deli is a much more friendly place with honest good deli food.

DONT GO HERE

The food is way overpriced. They got my order wrong (not even the right sandwich) and when they brought out my replacement the frys were cold (below room temp). I asked for some fresher frys stating they are cold and all they did is microwave it. The reason I know this was my cold sandwich was now hot when they brought it out. My brother got the turkey sandwich and said it was very dry. When I talked to the manager about the problem he shrugged his shoulders then mumbled something and walked away. Worst 30 bucks I ever spent for 2 sandwiches and drinks.

More than just a deli.

This is a fun place to get some food in Thousand Oaks. While it is called a deli, they really have a much wider assortment of food. The menu is extremely varied which makes it fun to visit often to try new things. It can get quite crowded and loud, but the food is consistently good.

Awful customer service
Posted by sunshinela on 01/06/2007
We went for breakfast on a sunday morning but didnt get to order at all. First, we had to wait in the lobby because there was no host to seat us. She finally came back after 5 minutes. Once we got a table they were prompt with the drinks but servers will walk by our table without servicing us. Finally a waitress approached the table next to ours to apologize for the delay. She said someone was supposed to cover for her since she was clocking out but would take their orders. She surely saw us staring at her since no one had serviced us for the 15 minutes we were seated there. Unfortunately that is all we got from her. My guess was our table didnt belong to her and she just walked away without taking our order nor telling us that someone will be with us shortly. We must have waited another 5 or 10 minutes and decided to leave. I dont know if its because we were the only asians there or they just have bad service overall but it was a bad way to start the day. I understand it was a busy morning but there were plenty of servers around as well as empty tables. Its too bad their service is awful since I was looking forward to trying their food.

Roxy's is a great place for a fun lunch. Good food, good service and lots of interesting things in the restaurant to look at (or sit outside and soak up the sun) make this one of my favorites. The menu is huge, which means everyone is happy.
