Exceptional

Books are people, too

Books have always been my friends. Treasures. As soon as I step across the store's threshold, I feel that I am entering a place where books and, in fact, the printed word in its many forms - cards, pamphlets, calendars, diaries - are valued and chosen with thoughtfulness and clear intention. A knowledgeable staff person is always ready to help me find what I am looking for and to provide additional insight, some history, a few anecdotes. And then there are the cards -- I always find the right one!

Very Good

cute shop with just the right thing

This is a quaint neighborhood book shop in the french quarter of russian hill on polk street. They have two distinct sections, one of ceiling high books and another of cards, journals and knick knacks. I haven't bought many books there, although their selection seems thorough, but I always find the right card from their eclectic choices. You are not buying generic walgreens cards, and the "funny" cards are honestly funny. This is not a common place! I also recommend taking a glance at thier sidewalk bin while walking by, of $2 paperbacks and $5 hardbacks. Nice perk that they are open until 10pm, great for after dinner walks.
