Horrible service, poor management, mediocre food

    Posted by bubblesandsun on 04/19/2009

We went in to dine and from the beginning of the service to the end the managers were constantly pushing us to order, finish our dinner, and eventually they told us that we needed to leave! After an hour and 10 minutes. The chef was messy and not very good, and the food was mediocre although I wouldn't know as the server boxed up my food mid bite. I would suggest if you are used to eating a 3 course meal in 30 minutes that this is the place for you. After complaining I am still waiting for someone to call me back. Over priced MCDonald's of hibachi is what the new term should be.

    INTOXICATED Chef!!!!!

    Posted by foodcritic775 on 01/22/2007

We were sat down in a timely matter and enjoying are selfs we got are drinks and were waiting for the chef, 20 mins pass by the salad and soup and finished. The chef then comes out of the kitchen with a wierd disorderly walk, he forgets to bow and is not wearing a name tag. He then asks if there is any1 having a birthday sliring his words, the lady next to my mother says me, 3 mins later he asks the little girl if its her birthday forgeting that he already asked that the lady says no its my birthday, after that was figured out he then asks were every1 is from sliring his words once again, everyone says Denver. 2 mins later he asks the same question then thinks we are from NY, mean while the food is being burnt and he is twirling around knifes ( the three litttle kids looked tarrified). My sister gets up and goes to the manager the chef looks over there perinoide. The manager realizes the Chef is indeed drunk so she gives us a new chef, the new chef then cleans all the burnt food that was about to be feed to us. Mean while the drunk chef and a employee who was also wasted was looking at my sister from the kitchen giving her jesters. WHY HE WASNT FIRED I DO NOT KNOW!! So my sister says we are out of here, so we all get up and walk out as we walk out the manager stops us and then trys to charge us for the meal. That was the last straw my sister makes a scene yells at the manager for not doing her job correctly and we storm out of the place. WORST DINING EXPERIENCE EVER!! DO NOT GOTO BENIHANAS! The Description of the chef was mexican, gold teeth and tattoos did not have on name tag which shows me he knew he was doing something wrong before he started. Charteristics of behavior= Swaying back and forth, slird words, asked same questions over and over could not cut very well, tried to throw shimp in hat could not do it, he had bl0od shot eyes looked stoned and drunk. DO NOT GOTO THIS RESTAURANT I WARN U!!

    Horrible, horrible, horrible

    Posted by thatpoetguy on 10/18/2006

Tonight my girlfriend and I spent two hours at Benihana's, in Tamarac Square. When we arrived, we were starving, and eager to gorge ourselves on sushi. But the service was slow. Slow as in the way glaciers move. We ordered the "all-you-can-eat" sushi, which comes in rounds; first they let you order a small amount of sushi, then they let you order some more. It was an hour before our first round arrived. After two hours, my girlfriend was still waiting for her second round. We decided to leave; we were generous and left 35 dollars on the table. On our way out, we were confronted by Benihana's employees, who treated us like criminals for leaving insufficient payment -- even though they completely failed to provide us with the meal we had asked for. Well, at least, it was the most attention we received from our servers the whole evening. The food itself was less than good: wilted avocado, rubbery tuna, and rolls stuffed with mayonnaise and imitation crab, with starchy rice. All in all, horrible food, horrible service, and horrible treatment add to a seriously unpleasant experience.

    Best Dining Experience in Town!

    Posted by springsteenfan10 on 06/14/2005

If you believe dining is part food, part experience, then Benihana is the restaurant for you! Take a seat at a large table designed for the great social experience and watch the Chef dazzle you with acrobatic tricks with the food cooked right in front of you! After eating the best Asian food in Denver, you'll be asking yourself what was better; the food or the experience. A question which will lead you back time and time again!

    Neat, but not worth it

    Posted by billdarksabre on 03/18/2005

I have heard so much about Benihana's that I was excited to go. Unfortunately, the best part of the resturant is the fancy knife wielding. The food is American style Japanese, not even close enough to be considered true Japanese cuisine. The sushi is sub-par at best. If want true Japanese cuisine, I recommend going somewhere else.

    What a WASTE!!!!!!

    Posted by sasiemaybe on 03/21/2004

I recently re-visited Benihana, after visiting several other Hibachi restaurants in the last few months. WHAT A MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT. The food is disgusting (One small stalk of zucchini for each person as your vegetable?), the service spotty, the prices ridiculously high and the ambience less than desirable. I cannot stress the poor quality of the food as compared to other Hibachi restaurants in Denver. For the BEST Hibachi, try Hibachi Steakhouse in Westminster at the Promenade. They are second to none.

    What Just Happened?

    Posted by grupert2 on 03/16/2004

What just happened here? These where the first words out of our month at the completion of the meal. I was out to diner with my spouse and another couple on a Saturday night and we were all amazed at the experience. Cattled in and cattled out under an hour flat! - that included apps, meal and dessert!. Quality & taste of the food - simple & basic. Entertainment by the table chef was not there, a very mechanical process. Price high. Managers' response to our disappointment - come on a weekday instead! How about not at all!

    Best Sushi Around

    Posted by pinkp99 on 08/05/2002

I only eat the Sushi Buffet at Benihana's. They use the finest ingredients in their sushi, that it's a wonder why more people don't go there with a price of $19.99 per person!! Please try it. If you love sushi, you'll definitely love their All You Can Eat Sushi Buffet
