This is a great place to go. I always have fun here. The building is always clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. You can usually find good parking.

Lots of room! Lots of history! Inexpensive cocktails! Bring friends and get there a little early for the perfect set.

    Fun time!

    Posted by dsines7 on 09/09/2006

I went there for the first time last night. The atmosphere is fun, and different. Not like any normal movie theatre. It's true, DON'T come here if you want a normal movie experience. But DO come here if you want something new. Before you go, make sure you bring CASH. They don't accept Credit Cards. Also, the seating can be a little uncomfortable for a double feature. Also, get there early to get a good seat. The audience was normal, not rowdy like the other reviews suggest. Also, it wasn't smoky at all... Have fun!

This place is cheap and different. You have to be at least 18 to get in to see a movie and 21 to drink. The for movies are five dollars a person. The also hold concerts here, which can get a little out of hand if you have been around to see the line going down the street to get in. This place is recommended.

Brew & View: The Perfect Marriage of Beer and Movies

Posted by Nelson T. on 03/17/2006

I love the Brew & View. I love the concept (big screen movies + food + beer = fun) and I love the execution (cheap beer, cheap tickets and great atmosphere, especially once everyone's buzzed). This is a great group outing, especially if you're seeing a movie that encourages audience participation and/or is raunchily fun to watch (think "American Pie" or some variant thereof). It's also one of the few movie places where you can talk back to the screen and not get yelled at. The only negative is that they generally show "new" movies only after they've been in other theaters for a while-but it's hard to complain about that when the cost of entry is rather low. Moreover, if you get there early, you'll get to catch two or three different movies (generally at 8 p.m., 10 p.m. and midnight)-it's a great price bargain overall. A secret tip for those strapped for cash: Now I've never done this ... but in theory you could sneak in some hard liquor in a flask and get drunk/enjoy the movies in a more cost-efficient manner.

    Brew & View rocks!

    Posted by alisiia on 11/13/2005

If you're looking for plush, clean, quiet place to watch a film, don't come here. What I loved about the B&V was its ability to transform a really bad movie (in my case, "Into the Blue") into one of the most enjoyable movie viewing experiences ever. The audience was classic: a bunch of hilarious drunkards shouting commentary at the screen. Expect plastic cups of cheap beer, the occasional flare of a match lighting a cigarette, and a good time.

2nd run movies in a unique venue

    Posted by M S. on 09/05/2005

Seeing The Vic Theatre is worth the trip to the Brew n' View alone. The theatre is beautiful if you can look past the old booths, tables, and chairs. The Brew n' View is a good value. You can see 2 or 3 movies for just a few dollars. The movies are usually just out of the mainstream theatres. Sometimes they even show classic movies. They offer drink specials too. The only down side is the trip to the restroom. The restrooms are located in the basement and are dimly lit and usually pretty deserted. I would recommend going down there in groups.

A toast to talking at the movies

Posted by Susan S. on 08/08/2005

Most people would say the best aspect of the Brew and View is that you can drink during a movie, but you can talk too-which is typically shunned upon. The ground floor has tables and booth seating and balcony upstairs has the traditional stadium style seating. They run some good, not too long ago released movies. You can also smoke here-for me thats a negative, but you might like the option. On busier nights they also have pizza and hotdogs for sale, and they have mixed drink specials. If you go for the first movie on a weekend night you can stay through the second one and through the midnight show so its a great deal movie-wise!

It's smoky and hard to get a good seat, but where else can you drink beer while watching a movie?! This should be on everyone's list for a must visit while in Chicago.

The concept of being able to watch a movie at a bar is brilliant. I am surprised more cities do not have brew and views. Go check it out!!
