It only takes a second and many times it's not even your fault. It may be a friend or other family member, which due to their carelessness or whatever, the piece you remember, from your childhood and grandma's house, is damaged seemingly beyond repair.

When an item, which has meant a great deal to you, is damaged, you usually feel heart sick because of the memories associated with it. There are always tears involved. You are too nice to get angry and will not blame anyone for what has happened and you don't know what to do except scrape up the pieces, put them in a box and deal with it later.

At some point a decision has to be made. Enjoy it the way it is, shed a few tears and send it to the landfill or store it in a box, in the closet OR have it restored to its original beauty so we can again display the item with pride.

The choice is yours and usually involves what the piece means to you, where it was purchased and basically what sentiment you attach to the piece. When you decide to have it restored, you hope it will be returned to you, looking as if it had never been damaged.

At the China & Crystal Clinic, we restore memories. We treat each piece as if it were going to be displayed in our own home. We feel that when you get the piece returned to you, memories of the damage will fade and the original memories associated with the piece will come rushing back.
