    Exceptional

By Far the Best Indian Cuisine in Milwaukee

    Posted by secretshopper53211 on 09/21/2008

By far the tastiest, exceptionally flavorful, Indian cuisine I have had in the City of Milwaukee. This was our first time here and the atmoshpere was warm, quiet, and the employees were very friendly. They even have a bar with a plasma tv for all the sports fans. The menu is easy to understand and all the questions I had were answered in a very appreciative manner. Each dish had excellent seasoning, and nice size portions. You can order your dish mild, medium or hot. The medium was perfectly done. The lamb was so tender it melted in your mouth. Deserts are home made and something that you won't experience elsewhere. Their Indian Ice Cream is sweet and flavorful. Good to know they have a lunch and dinner buffet. Something I will be checking out also this week. Very affordable as well.

    Very Good

FINALLY another great Indian place on the East Side!

    Posted by twinmama1 on 03/01/2008

I am SO glad there is finally another good Indian restaurant on the east side of Milwaukee!! We have gone to Mayura twice, for carryout and dine-in. The food is very high-quality and tasty. We ordered Chicken Tikka-Masala, Vindaloo, Lamb Korma, Nan (Garlic, Ginger, and Plain), and vegetable samosas. When we dined in, the portion sizes were reasonable and a good value. however, when we carried out the food, we got little meat in the sauce. They seem to use less oil than other places--this made it taste great and have a better "leftovers" rating. Felt healthier, too! You will be very surprised about the decor--they did some nice decorating (i.e, not the typical velvet paintings, crazy colors, etc.). The ambiance is nice, and so is the bar. There is a big-screen tv at the bar mounted on the wall. It is surprisingly UNLIKE a typical Indidan Restaurant! I am sure they could handle large groups--the seating area is spacious. The service was excellent--the host and server made sure we were well taken care of, made great suggestions, and was SUPER friendly (he even challenged us to a riddle we had to solve during dinner). The food was ready quickly, drinks were refilled promptly, they offered to wrap the food, etc. For carry-out, the food was ready in 15 minutes!! They don't deliver (yet) or have a website (hard for menu access for carryout), but they are working on it. I look forward to trying the buffet during the week. Enjoy! Keep this restaurant alive so we have some more ethnic choices in Milwaukee!!!!!
