BEWARE!!! They overcharge when you are not looking
Posted by beninstudiocity on 03/17/2009
Twice we have been hoodwinked! The first time there were some extra sakis on our bill. OOPS!
Then we ordered to go food and they added an 8 percent gratuity....They don't give you an itemized list, just a bill with the total!! Make sure you ask for the list of food! I have found this in another sushi restaurant as well. since you (me) can't read Japanese..they figure you will never know!!!

Never had a bad experience!!
Posted by hawnk on 03/23/2008
I go once or twice a week and sit at the bar. Order a spicy tuna hand roll with avocado on soy paper, then order a baked crab hand roll on soy paper, then order the yellowtail. Next, try to remember three things you have eaten in a row in the past that could possibly compete!!!
I don't go on Monday's as Richard the sushi chef is not there. He is THE MAN when it comes to sushi!

Service was terrible, hot food was horrible, sushi was decent
Posted by savvydiner08 on 03/15/2008
Just returned from dinner at Teru sushi, was a terrible experience. The server was rude, slow and didnt seem to care. Had to request help from manager several times and he made no apologies for the bad service. Ordered hot food as well as sushi. Hot food was bad and overpriced. Sushi was fine. Overall experience was bad and will not repeat and would not recommend. Way to many good choices out there to waste your time here.

great for patio, rolls
Posted by famousblueraincoat on 11/29/2007
this is a good spot for sushi rolls. the house one is the best. avoid the one with avo and eel sauce -- to gloopy, globby sweet. patio is pretty and best place to sit. it's tucked in the back. i've heard this is a fave haunt with many celebs. staff are very nice and friendly. convenient to bar-hop afterward.

For being probably the oldest Sushi Bar in Town, It still packs quite a great experience. It has the highest quality of Sushi & the atmosphere is fun! You might even have a celebrity sighting. Worth the drive from any location!

Good spot for sushi. Very convenient location in the SF Valley and fun to people watch with some of the studio clientele. Sushi is always fresh and very good dishes.

Double Charged! Check your bill carefully!

NEW OWNER
BUYER BEWARE!!!!!
I ordered Shell Oyster as listed on the menu and they served me Oyster Shooter.
My wife is Japanese so there shouldn't have been communication issues but the sushi man was Chinese.
I offered to buy their mistake to avoid a problem but the manager came over to investigate while giving me dirty looks and they offered the mistaken shooters at full price. I declined.
When the bill came they charged me $24.00 for the half shell oyster instead of $12.00 and listed me as having 2 orders when I only ordered one.
They did the same with my wife's iced tea.
Their excuse? The computer buttons sometime stick.
If they knew that was a problem why didn't they double check the bill before presenting it?
Could it be that they found such mistakes to work in their favor?
Many people on weekends are too drunk to focus on the check.
Others feel embarrassed to review it not to look cheap.
Yet others are regular customers and feel they can trust their favorite restaurant.
CAUTION: CHECK YOUR BILL CAREFULLY!!!!
You want the best Japanese food in LA? Go accross the street to Asanebo.
A little pricey but worth every penny!
Teru Sushi is rude, dishonest, and serves sub par food!!!!!!!!!!!
If it was legal to kick that manager's butt he'd be walking to his car with my bootprint!
My bill was $112.00 after they revised it and I left a $19.00 tip because my wife was with me.
If I had been alone I'd be in jail right now.

consistently good
Posted by ratbrain on 02/24/2006
I've been coming to Teru for over 10 yrs. The sushi is always top quality. Toro and hamachi is the best. Order the Yaki appetizer and grab a seat at the bar. Prices are not value, but anyone that knows sushi would agree you get what you pay for. Anyone that rates the sushi her avg or below avg doesnt know sushi or goes to sushi bars on sunday....
