a venerable uptown institution

This wonderfully old fashioned movie theater is one of the only non-megaplex movie theaters in New Orleans, and the only remaining theater uptown. It has a single screen and only a few employees at any given time. The sound sometimes gives out, and there tend to be problems with the screen more often than one would like; however, the theatre still retains its great relaxed, neighborhood atmosphere that makes it so beloved in the area.
