antique clock repair & cleaning

Approximate time for repair & cleaning was 16 weeks,that was fine with us. They would call when the work was done, since we were moving out of town, I told them we would also call for followup. There was no problem at all with followup, one call from them was to advise there was a problem with parts that was causing a delay, their next call was 12/21/07 to advise clock was repaired. I let them know that due to holiday plans, we would not be in Houston area until 1/02/08 or 1/03/08. We went to the shop on 1/03/08 to get the clock. The young lady seemed very knowledgeable, explained how to attach the pendulum, not to transport with pendulum attached, and to make sure the clock is on a level surface. Did all of that & clock still does not work. I called the store on 1/04/08, was advised to bring the clock back to the store, told them we can not make a trip to Houston, then was advised she would put our check in an envelope with a note regarding the problem on Mr C's desk for him to see first thing Monday morning (1/7/08). When I called this morning, was told to adjust the leveling dials on the clock. I reminded the person this clock was made in the 1940s & has no external leveling dials, clocks made 1950 & later have those dials. She told me to bring the clock back to the shop, reminded her that we no longer live in Houston area, we live near Corpus Christi. She said there is nothing they can do, I advised her a stop payment has been placed on our check & am not paying for work that was not completed. Told her to provide a list of parts & cost, she said no parts were replaced. Earlier we had been told there was delay due to parts not received.
