The burger was good, but...

.....I would say the place needs a bit of an overhaul. Felt kind of gross. But for what the place is, it was fine.

George's great burgers and two other great places
Posted by dipwad on 12/04/2008
George's, the Vortex, and Ann's Hamburger stand are my three favorites in Atlanta for burgers.
All make a good homestyle burger, like those cooked in the old days by mom. BIg, juicy, good sized bun and just about anything you want on them. I like to pick my own stuff, but roasted red bell pepper adds a lot to mine, along with red onion.

Best good old fashioned restaurant and beer place
Posted by thubeav on 08/23/2008
I love George's. The family atmosphere is the best in town. I always see people I know. The service is great but it's not the Ritz. What you get at George's is normal food and certainly a malted beverage. I like to get the Char Grilled Chicken sandwich with swiss and coleslaw on the side. And a beer in a bottle. How normal is that? I love it. It's fun to get organic buffalo mozzarella with heirloom tomatoes and purple basil, etc. (Floataway Cafe.) but I can't do that every day.
When I need to see friends, unwind, walk around and see the shops, go to Paolo's for gelato and take the kids.
That's where I love George's. Don't miss this very traditional Atlanta restaurant. When you finally go, you'll say - What was I waiting for? This is great!

Best Place in Virginia Highlands
Posted by twoeagles on 06/18/2008
I've been going to George's for years, live in the area. It is always great service and food. The burgers are the best in Atlanta. Family friendly. Also, runners gather here after their run on Wed. nights. Nice outdoor seating for summer, spring and fall.

I ate here for the first time this weekend and the black bean burger was awesome. Very inexpensive menu and they also have a kids menu. Definitely a great spot for a burger!

Best Burgers!!

Fantastic burgers- they come in two sizes so you don't have to have a huge burger if you don't need it. Ice cold beer. Best service anywhere in the Highlands. Great sides.

Great burgers, where they know your name
Posted by jgebhart on 09/29/2006
This is a great, low-key neighborhood bar where the locals go for cold beer and great bugers and bar food. The weekly trivia is fun, and I've gone a few times with the weekly running group on Wednesdays. It's the only place I've ever gone where the staff recognized me and learned my name. It still captures the laidback feel of the Va-Highlands.

Filthy dirty combined with Iffy Service but Great Burgers
Posted by anromath on 09/03/2006
I ate there on a Saturday afternoon with two friends. The burgers were really good. Six thumbs up! The service was not very good, though. I also noticed that the chain lamps hanging over each booth were filthy. Good thing I didn't notice that till after we ate, or I would have left.

Burgers, Beer and Rings oh my
Posted by casiec on 07/13/2006
This is a wonderful hidden gem tucked away in the highlands. Take my advise order the 8oz Blue Cheese Burger with a nice cold beer and you are set.The onion rings are amazing and for just for a mere 50 cents extra...what a steal. This place is a great cozy spot where you can actually hear the person across from you and still have your voice in the morning. I highly recommend this neighborhood spot.
