    Favorite sushi in Pineville....

    Posted by genjerspice on 10/24/2008

Ok, I am a huge sushi fan, I could eat it for breakfast, therefore I am a huge critic and I'm very judgmental when it comes to sushi. The sushi is always very fresh, the sushi chefs are VERY delightful and accomodating. They will fix any type of special roll you want, are happy to modify it and always are very entertaining. The prices are very reasonable, and they have daily specials. Although all of these things are excellent, the one thing that the sushi bar lacks is good servers. They ALWAYS have terrible servers that leave dishes in front of you, fail to be watchful of your drink refills and just overall lack attentiveness. You may thirst to death and have to sit there afterwards with dishes in front of you until you leave. But I absolutely LOVE the sushi there and the sushi chefs. Guess its a trade off and something you have to put up with to enjoy the sushi. Don't know about the hibachi part of it at all.

    Japanese Chucky Cheese

    Posted by stephanielukejones on 04/20/2008

I only wish I could give this less than 1 star. The 1 star they earned was for a decent steak. We went with another couple and had reservations for a Saturday night. When we walked in the restaurant was teeming with children. It literally looked like Chucky Cheese, which is across the street, spilled out into this place. There were children everywhere. At our grill, and the neighbor grill, out of 20 seats, only 6 had adults in them...the rest were full of little kids. The cook was mexican, did not speak much at all. The dinner was very rushed. The salads were mostly water. We won't be back here ever, ever again....unless a friend has their child's birthday here.

I always walk out happy and full--can't beat that. I go to the one on Pineville-Matthews Rd for lunch. I would highly recommend.

    Kabuto Serves up delight

    Posted by b3tvr74 on 01/30/2007

Our entire family loves going to Kabuto. The sushis is always fresh and beautifully presented. The grill chefs are always entertaining and the food off the grill is always the best. This is a great restaurant for taking your staff to lunch or dining out with kids.

    Kabuto -- "pass"

    Posted by donnelj1 on 01/23/2006

Japanese steakhouses conjure certain expectations: mystic ambiance, customer camraderie, master-craft chefs, interesting menu items, fresh and delicious food. Kabuto has none of these qualities. The ambience is forced and plastic. The menu is very bland. Our particular chef seemed like a nice, fun guy...but his skills were hardly above brown belt. The service was prompt, but lacking in any type of warmth or character. But the biggest surprise was the food quality. Wilted vegetables, bland fried rice, "fishy" seafood and steak that had no right to be called filet mignon. It was the same quality you would expect from over-the-counter asian take-out. At double the price.

    Americanized

The sushi was of the "Teeter grade", and the Teppan Yakki was the usual. Our chef was Hispanic, and he cut himself during the "show". If you are easily impressed, as most people are by the number of customers they get, this is the place for you. But if you want to get a good sushi, and a real Japanese food, go elsewhere.
