Great food, great service! Can't beat the walnut prawns, orange beef or the service!
Posted by shibaboyz on 05/12/2007
The food, the service and the cleanliness of the restaurant are wonderful. We've gone to this restaurant since it opened 15 years ago. The walnut prawns, the orange beef and the hoisen green beans are always very best!

Cheap and tasty Chinese, great selection
Posted by baychick on 01/23/2007
Alice's has a lot of great dishes to choose from, and they are all fairly inexpensive. The vegetarian egg rolls, mu shu, hoison string beans, and cashew chicken are my standard favorites. I have run into a few less-than-average, like the lemon chicken. If you are a group of four, order one appetizer and three entrees and you will be set. The space is clean, pretty and relatively well-lit, the service is good and there is rarely a wait. I would not recommend coming here with a large party though - the space is not built to accomodate big groups. Also, parking is a nightmare.

crab ragoons, good service, great price

It is the same as Eric's but less croweded. The appetizers for 2 is exactly the same as Eric, same flavor, same portion. Service is a little better than Eric's,they are ot rushing you which is a good thing. I decide from now on to rate also how clean is the palce, specially galsses/silverware and plates. Well unfortunately I have foundresidual of food on my glass/plates and silverware. Yak ! hope this was only a cincidence !

Reservation not honored
Posted by missmockingbird on 06/27/2005
I made a reservation at Alice's for my friend's birthday. I made sure everyone was tipped very well- more than 25%, plus I personally thanked the hostess and the waiter. I made a reservation 2 weeks later for my boyfriend's birthday. We arrived to find our entire party standing outside. They had been told that our reservation had been cancelled. I went in and spoke to the same hostess I had thanked 2 weeks before. She told me that she cancelled the reservation because she thought I wasn't coming because I did not call to confirm. Here's the deal: 1- They had my phone number. They could have called me to confirm as is standard at better restaurants. 2- They knew who I was and that I had sucessfully had a dinner party there 2 weeks before. 3- They were rude to everyone in my party before I arrived.

Just Average
Posted by loudcritic on 07/21/2003
There are a lot of great little spots to dine at around the Noe Valley area. This used to be one of them, but lately it's gone down hill. Rice is overcooked, mango is to ripe and soggy, service is lacking. The menu is more original than others and the value is above average, but Noe still lacks a good Chinese takeout, because this is far from it.

Not spicy .....

more of a sweet spicy. The food was good - loved all the fresh veggies but all the dishes tasted similar. Good value for your buck.

great prices, OK food
Posted by noefoodie on 10/12/2002
The prices can't be beat here. You pay on average $6-11 per dish for dinner and even less for lunch. The food is Americanized Chinese but tasty all the same. I especially appreciated the chow mein...not greasy at all and a generous helping of noodles, meat, and veggies. I definitely recommend that dish. I noticed that the servers were slow to seat other tables that came in later than us so be prepared to stand around for a couple of minutes.

Love Alice's!
Posted by jordy on 08/01/2002
Alice's is just a beautiful restaurant with a fabulous staff. The art is reason enough to go, and then to top it all off, the food is excellent. Everything is very clean.. the restaurant, the bathrooms, even the food. This is the place I take my out of town visitors for something a little different. The only down side is the parking. Make sure to leave extra time!

Too sweet!
Posted by amysf on 06/18/2002
I was looking for spicy Chinese food and had heard good things about Alice's. All I can say is SYRUP. Everything we had- soup, spicy broccoli, and prawn special was drenched in sticky sweet- NOT spicy sauce that left me with a stomach ache. Sorry to be negative, but I would not go back.
