    Cab drivers rejecting my fare

    I work hard and I work late. I usually try to catch a cab in downtown palo alto before 2 am when there are cabs waiting. If not, I call these people because they are supposed to be company with most cabs around Palo Alto. In fact, their drivers sit and wait at the Sheraton all night. I don't take a long ride by any means but I tip 3 dollars for a 7 dollar cab ride every time I take a cab. It seemed to me like the cab drivers were generally OK with this, especially given that I was OK with them not turning on the meter sometimes when I haled a ride from downtown (which means they don't lose their place in line). Today, I called at 2:45am for a cab, called back 20 minutes later b.c it never takes that long (and it down-right shouldn't). I was told someone would be there in 15 minutes. I got to playing video poker (thanks, iphone) and soon enough it was 3:45am and no word from the cab company even to tell me that they couldn't get me a cab. When I called them back, me and the dispatcher had a fun little talk that went more or less like this: - Hey dude, it's been an hours and I haven't heard from anyone? - Nothing, huh? - Well wouldn't you now that since you are the one dispatching and all? Tell me, should I start walking towards the bus station or what? - Well they keep rejecting your call. - Who? - The drivers.. - Just like that huh? Isn't that like illegal or against some consumer rights or smth? - Nope - So I should just start walking? - You could try calling XXXX, you might be able to get a cab faster from there. - Meh, forget about it. Kthanxbai in short, I am not looking for a trustable cab company in Palo Alto that won't miss a beat and provide the actual service they advertise.

    I called the company for the service. They found it with no trouble. The driver was prompt and courteous and got me to my destination on time and efficiently. Will use them again.

    Couple of trips in San Jose with this cab company impressed me. Courteous and timely service, but the $30.00 for an 8 mile trip was painful...

    I called this company, and my cab was sent to the wrong city...not once, but twice. And when I called after the second screw up, you could hear a few of these morons laughing. The second cab driver, who called to tell me he was "at my house", was so angry at the dispatchers for giving him the wrong info. He told me to call the manager the following business day. So, the dispatchers cost the company money...With all the other cab companies in the Bay Area, I'm glad I never have to call Yellow Checker again! This site required me to give at least one star..If it were up to me, they'd get zero.
