Great Salon

These people are easy to work with, they take the time to ask what you want and what you expect from your cut or color. They're pros, they are experenced yet they're up with the lastest trends. When you have a appointment , that's when you're taken, you don't sit and wait an hour for your stylist. Great cuts at a fair price, what more can you ask.

Great Salon!

I have been going to Rose at Nova for ages. I have really difficult hair, but Rose styles it perfectly every time. The salon has a friendly, comfortable and welcoming environment and I have happily recommended it to many friends over the years. No one has ever been disappointed.

Superior Salon...Warmest people
Posted by crazy4curls on 02/02/2009
I have to agree with gtowngirl. The review is VERY questionable; actually, I believe the review to be untrue. I have been going to Nova for 8 yrs and never, not once, have I been disappointed. Marianne delivers on point each time. My color, cut, and perm look terrific and my hair is more conditioned than ever. Rose, Erin, John.. all great stylists and I would be comfortable in each one's chair. Their clients walk away with smiles just as big as mine! Kathy, the manicurist, perfects the nails and does wonders with eyebrows. Annette gives the greatest shampoo. She leaves your scalp feeling refreshed and your hair revitalized; she blots perm rods like no other to make sure curls come out perfect..which they do! Rita, the receptionist, is a joy to talk to. She makes you feel right at home. Once you walk in you can immediately feel the warmth of the staff. The professionalism is top notch and the talent cannot be measured; Nova Hair Salon is truly an exceptional place. For anybody reading these reviews, please question the validity of that ONE and ONLY ONE vicious review. I believe there had to be other intent behind it.

Where Everybody Knows Your Name - a top salon with the spirit of "Cheers"
Posted by baskinas on 01/29/2009
As soon as you walk in the door this exceptionally talented and caring group of professionals welcome you like a valued member of their family. I?m an executive consultant and professor with exceptionally high standards for service. I am also a loyal client of Nova Hair Salon ? for over a decade now. My visits feel more like a revitalizing retreat than a hair appointment??Cheers? for those thirsting for a salon rather than a saloon.

Talented, Compassionate and Professional Staff. I question this one negative review!
Posted by Gtowngrl on 01/29/2009
I've been going to Maryann, one of Nova's owners, for more than twenty years. I have been really happy with my haircuts. This salon has tons of loyal clients; during the holidays people bring food and gifts to share. For these reasons, I really question the truthfulness of this review by "sinnabunni." I can't imagine any of the hairdressers hacking at anyone's hair! In my experience, they are very thoughtful and ask lots of questions when someone with long hair asks for a dramatically shorter cut -- they know it can be an emotional experience and they want to play it safe. Makes me wonder if this woman got the right place -- or is she someone with an axe to grind?

A terrible experience, my hair is ruined for years!
Posted by sinnabunni on 12/23/2008
The stylist butchered my hair. I am very very upset, I had very long thick hair before my visit and the stylist hacked it off without any sense of a style. Now it is so choppy and nasty that I put it back and can't bear to look at it. Horrible!!! I asked for light layering and bangs, what I got was 5 years of growing my hair down the drain, in some places in the back it is 12 inches shorter, and the longest layer is cut on an angle with little pieces that stick out and got missed by the scissors. A child could have cut it better, I am so sad. I forget the stylist's name but she was a middle aged woman with short dark hair. I will NEVER go back, and would not recommend this salon. Don't let them ruin your hair too!

Truly, a great salon.

I have been a client of Nova Hair Salon for nearly 10 years. Although I relocated to Chicago 5 years ago, I still travel the 800 miles back to Nova to get my hair permed. Why? Because, they listen. Instead of giving me a hair style that I can not maintain, they work with me to create a style that fits my life. That alone would keep me coming back, but, as a bonus, the Salon's atmosphere is welcoming and upbeat. I can not recall a visit where I did not hear the clients and staff joking with each other. Truly, a great salon.

Great Haircut- Terrific Prices- Feels Like Home
Posted by allinthewords on 10/28/2008
I went to Nova after being disappointed with another salon in Center City Philadelphia. I called on a Saturday morning and was booked in with Erin. Upon entering the salon, I instantly felt at ease---which is not very common in the upscale salon scene. After only waiting for a few minutes, I met with Erin who discussed my cut and let me know what she would need to do in order to acheive the style I wanted. Erin is a true pro and not only cut my hair- but styled it for me so carefully----and I am so happy with the results.
I am highly impressed with Nova.....and will be going back.

Respose from Nova Hair Salon to Unfair Review
Posted by rsivitilli on 06/28/2008
As one of the owners of Nova Hair Salon, I would like to respond to the person who suggests that we are rude. First, I want to specify that this person was a job applicant at Nova, not a client. As a courtesy to prospective employees, we allow all job applicants to fill out applications. If there is no job available at the time they come in, we make that clear to them. When this person came in to apply, she was informed that we would file her application for future reference, but there was no job available. She still insisted on calling 2 days later to find out about the job that wasn't there.
Perhaps there was a misunderstanding on her part. Clearly there was a language barrier between us. I just want to make it clear that we are never rude to job applicants. In fact, we go out of our way to be courteous, by allowing evey applicant to fill out an application. We do not, however, have the time to be hounded by applicants once we have told them there is no job available.
I would also like to state that this particular applicant has used the City Search rating system unfailry . by not specifying that she was not a client in our salon. Her review should be eliminated from our list, simply because it has nothing to do with the quality of our work, nor with our relationship with our clients. We pride ourselves on maintaining the most friendly and welcoming atmosphere in our salon, and this job applicant has insulted us by insinuating that we treat our clients rudely.
