GENERAL INFORMATION:
Serving Washington, Nowata and parts of Osage County in Oklahoma
Established in 1983 our mission is: To be the primary source supporting the aging individual by promoting innovative approaches to services, referrals, and choices, emphasizing health, wellness, and independence.
When you are an exhausted caregiver or an ailing older adult, making decisions, finding where to go for help, and fighting for what you need can be overwhelming. At Elder Care, we serve as the resource and advocate that caregivers and older adults need. We help with problem solving and obtaining necessary services.
Sometimes the challenges of aging arise through physical and mental ailments ranging from arthritis, stroke, depression, and vision and hearing impairment, to dementia, Alzheimer's, and Parkinson's disease. Sometimes it's simply the frailty that comes with aging.
Elder Care offers those who choose to stay at home the information and resources necessary to address their challenges.
At the hub of Elder Care's services is our Care Management Program. Care Management's purpose is to assist consumers like you in finding resources and services in the community that meet your needs.
Sometimes, those services are ones we provide through Elder Care, but we also refer to a wide variety of services provided by other suppliers throughout our area. That often includes being a facilitator with any and all community service providers and health care providers.

What does physical therapy involve?
A physician's prescription is required for physical therapy in Oklahoma. If you are an older adult who suffers from a loss of function and think you may benefit from physical therapy, talk with your physician.
On your first visit, our physical therapist will determine what you and your physician want to achieve. The therapist will then prescribe a care plan which may include a schedule of one or more of the following:
Precise exercise program
Movement re-education
Manipulations/mobilizations
Heat/cold/electrical stimulation/ultrasoundGenerally, our first course of treatment is for two or three times a week for one month. During the therapy, we check your progress and update your plan. A reassessment is performed after 30 days. When you meet your goals, you will be discharged, usually with a home program.
Our brand new facility offers state-of-the-art Keiser exercise equipment. This equipment uses air resistance instead of weights, and is quiet and gentle on joints.
