Service Stinks
Posted by rivers2412 on 08/05/2009
It's bad enough to travel on an airplane with a 9 month old who doesn't enjoy confined spaces. It's infinitely worse when the mid-size rental car you reserved with specific instructions to rent a rear-facing car seat is not ready for you when you arrive. I'm not sure how it is at other airports, but the Orlando airport Alamo car rental service stinks! Not only were my daughter and I sweating profusely by the time we walked through the summer heat to the rental desk, but 4 of the 6 kiosks were out of service and the line to wait for customer service consisted of probably 35 people! Fortunately, one of the kiosks worked for me and I could print my reservation out at the airport. However, once I carried my daughter through to the parking garage (in 100 degree weather) the car wasn't ready! I fully expected to see a rear-facing child seat in a mid-size car. What I found was a Ford Focus that they had the nerve to classify as a mid-size that had an empty back seat! I had to walk, still carrying my daughter now, back to the rental car desk and tell them that I reserved a car seat. What the attendant did was to point to a big stack of loose car seats and booster seats and tell me that I had to install it myself. Well, my husband is the one who installed our car seats, so I haven't a clue how to install one. When I asked for assistance the attendant said "No" and that there were instructions attached to the seats for me to read. OK, at this point I'm upset, dripping with sweat, my clothes are plastered to my body and my daughter is crankier than ever. Imagine my surprise when I read that the car seat was only for infants 22 pounds and less!! My 9 month old, healthy daughter is in the 100th percentile for height and weight and weighs more than 26 pounds. There was no way she could fit in the seat! Long story short(er), they didn't have a rear-facing car seat for her size and even though infants less than 12 months old should be rear-facing, I had to install a forward-facing booster seat for her! I will NEVER EVER use Alamo again in my life and I will tell others my story.

What!!
Posted by msladi79 on 08/23/2008
We where tring to make reservations for our trip to scope out my husbands new military base and I called the reservation line. I reached an agent who didn't speak english very well and was short and rude.. I asked of military rates and was asked why would I want that and what was my reasoning for requesting such a rate. Duh.. I explained we are active military and the agent had the nerve to sigh into the phone. Do people in India not want military families to rent from them. She as proceeded to explain that I must have a flight itenerary to reserve a car with debt card. What? I already stated it was for non flight driving.. Can we get customer service back to the US and people who care. THank you Alamo for your anti American treatment....

Price was a factor here and they were cheaper than the competition. Cars were not clean and mine has remnants of a spilled shake that smelled in the back,. Get what you pay for here.

I recently used alamo at IAH and I must say the mid size suv was great, it was a 08 model spotless with hardly any miles, I was even offer a upgrade to a Escalade at a extremly low price, but the way cost of gas is I didn't want to spend all my money fueling that monster, anyways no problems from check in to check out

good clean cars

We recently rented from Alamo in PHL and were a bit disappointed. There were two adults and four kids and had been promised a full sized SUV that would hold us all. With the two booster seats, we were a tight squueze. The car was clean and didn't reek of smoke, but it would have been nice to have gotten a free upgrade.
