AWFUL
Posted by Kennyhappy on 02/25/2009
Direct tv is the most corrupt business I have ever encountered. When you talk to customer service they will not send you an email or letter confirming the conversation. They lie, tell you anything you may want to hear then steal money from your card. They made unauthorized charge on my card and I have spent countless hours attempting to recover the 400+ charge!I have had have my Mastercard delete the charges, and have made over 30 calls to Direct TV to deal with this. If you want to do business with a company that will NOT put any verbal agreement on paper, that is Direct tv. SAVE YOURSELF, DO NOT USE DIRECT TV. Do a search on google direct tv sucks.. and watch the THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS!

TERRIBLE
Posted by redhot55 on 01/25/2009
These people WILL NOT change mybill date for anything. I am on disability and ONLY GET PAID ON THE 3rd of the month. that's the ONLY time I can pay bills. But they keep telling me, tehre is no way my bill date can ever be moved. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. They told me to write to the home office explaining what I needed. So I did and got no response back at all.
As soon as I can switch to another service I am going to do that. This has been going on for over a year now. I'm so sick of these people. And you can never speak with anyone English. Most of their reps are over in India or somewhere. It's unbeliveable.

POOR - Worst Run Company
Posted by solarwind on 12/26/2008
Avoid alot of heart ache and long hours on the phone.. Choose another provider!
I had Direct TV for a year or so.. never missed a payment either. The recieption was not all that great either compaired to dish or some others.
This company during IKE was very rude to me. Other providers around my area in north Houston were out in the area making repairs. But not Direct TV
When calling to set an appointment ( we just needed the dish re aligned) they were rude and told us only three compaies did repair for Houston and it would be several months. They could not provide me with a number either and very time you call them you get out of the country with people you dont understand and partonize you. They can never give you to s manager either, you have to write them Which for a city this size was idiotic. When I asked to make an appointment I was told to call back a week later. I called back a week a week later and was told there were no appointments available for two months and I " would have to deal with it".
As a consumer I do NOT have to deal with it. After 25 days without service I called to cancel my service. They sent someone out within two days of that call. I took them less than 10 minutes to align the satellite. I still cancelled service with them and paid 270 to get out of the contract with these rude people and told them they were no longer authorized to use my card.
They mailed me boxes which I returned the two recievers and DVD to them promptly. They then came back and charged me on my card which they had no authorization for the DVD player which they had recieved. Five phone calls later and about 6 hours on the phone with thier so called customer service.. they only refunded part of it and claimed the charges were for discounts for December ( I cancelled service in October) They had in fact recieved the DVD and put in a refund but managed to find excuses to keep it. One person didnt put in the refund properly, another didnt check a box, it was recieving fault they didnt show the box etc etc.
For me to pay to get out a contract says alot right there. So avoid this company unless you want charges for service you dont have, and equipment you dont have either. Just hand them your wallet that is all they are interested in!

rude sales rep
Posted by jokerpoker on 11/24/2008
I had placed a call to direct tv to find out some info. about the services because i was thinking about switching and placing a order. i spoke with a sales rep and he was helping me with my questions. I told him I wasn't going to place a order today but I had another question. Then the jerk said " I thought you weren't placing a order today" and then hung up on me. What a loser for their sales dept. I really wonder if I should even switch now with the horrible customer service i recieved. This makes me really upset. He probably thought I wouldn't call back, which I tried but after 38 minutes of being on hold waiting to get a manager i decided to do a email. I made 2 calls to direct tv today and both had the worst customer service ever.

False Advertising...... In Ohio
Posted by Edward99 on 11/24/2008
The first thing I notice about this business is that they are advertising as "Directv" which is not the case and is unethical and illeagle. This is a dealer that is in Ohio, and with dozens of local choices, I have no idea why anyone would ever do biz with this company so far away from home and they do not know our area or even the people that will be intsalling thier equip...... Moral of the story--------- Support Local Business

rip off
Posted by Laura6 on 09/29/2008
They kept billing me after I canceled. Then they billed me again after I called to confirm my cancellation. They finally stopped billing me after I called a third time. They were very timely in shutting off service though!

Fraud
Posted by srand123 on 09/10/2008
Direct Tv is a fraud. Be very careful to read the fine print , when you are thinking about becoming a customer. First of all you have to submit a credit card when you become a customer . If you do not return there receivers after you discontinue there service , they will take an amount on your credit card. They tell you that you can lease the receiver for 18-24 months . Even if you have paid a lease for this amount of time. The receiver is still propery of Direct Tv, and you MUST return it. I was disconnected from there service . I received a bill to pay before 7/28 or disconnect, but was disconnected on 7/18/08. I was sent one box for 4 receivers . After calling in to request additional boxes , a week later they were delivered , but on that same day they took 428.00 out of my account , without my authorization. I was so upset this happened , because this happened at the first of the month and my credit card on file was expired. Direct Tv figured out the nex epire date and charged my card without my consent and took out more for a balance , and never stoped my billing until 8/31/08 . I will never recommend Direct Tv to no one . They should have no right to do this to no one. I never signed up for no auto pay, or bill.

Ticked Off/ Choose anything else

I have had this service for 31 months and would not recommend. In fact, any service is better than dealing with these people. The initial contract says that if your equipment is replaced, you are in for another 24 months or must pay up to $360 to cancel. I had been with Comcast or Viacom for years before DirectTV and never had a box go out on me. The DVR box that I paid $100 for went out after 16 months and they sent me another one in April 2007. I was outraged because I lost all my saved programs. Now, a year later, that box has went out on me again. The rep told me that she would overnight me one by Fed Ex and even gave me a tracking number. We were leaving the next day for vacation and I wanted to tape certain Olympic events. The package never came. In fact, when we called DirectTV back, they told us they could not even do that and that the package was still there. We told them not to ship it, but they did anyway, and it sat on our porch while we were on vacation. I called today to cancel, and was told about that commitment on the original paperwork. If I cancel, I will have to pay $160/ 20 per month left on that 24 month committment. I am going to tough it out and hope that the other boxes don't go out too. They are liars and certainly not concerned with customer service.

SORRY SERVICE
Posted by debwix on 07/25/2008
I will say that the service that I have got with Directv is the sorriest I have seen. I can't get anyone out here to tell
us what trees we may have to cut to get a signal out. They tell me something different every time I call them.
I guess they just don't know what they are doing. I have been having trouble with the satillite and I have been calling them for about a week and a half now. Still no one has called me back . They said they cancelled my work order because they couldn't get a signal out. OK, we need to cut some trees, but how do we know what trees to cut if they don't tell us. But if they want to be like this, then maybe I need to get service from another place. I have had Directv for probably about 8 years now, never been late on a payment and now they don't want to do their part. Sounds like to me that they don't care about their customers. I won't even rate Directv a number 1 now. Sorry! But if this is the way you want to treat me , then I can go elsewhere and I will tell and email everyone I know DO NOT GET DIRECTV.

This is wrong
Posted by sarah1978 on 07/25/2008
I was promised 4 months for free. Then after they hooked up my service I received a bill for $75 dollars. I called them and they said that they could not change the bill and that the package was no longer available. I asked to speak with a manager. I was refused the right to speak with a manager. I would like to start a class action suit against this company. Want to join me? You can find me on the Portland Craigslist under general community.
