    Very Good

Minute Clinic is Better Than Nighttime Peidatrics

    Posted by honest_scoop on 12/01/2009

I love the convenience of the Minute Clinic in Crofton, MD. I was self-pay, without insurance for years, which is why I inquired about Minute Clinic, and there is no better place to go for diagnosis and treatment for relatively minor issues. I took my son to Nighttime Pediatrics over the summer of 2009, to be tested for strep throat because he had lesions in the back of his mouth, swollen lymph nodes and a fever; I left Waugh Chapel Nighttime Pediatrics so disappointed in their unprofessionalism that I did not trust their diagnoses of "cold" (the staff tried to rush us out the door without even reviewing the results of his test!). Two days later I took my son to Minute Clinic, and in less than 1/2 hour, he was diagnosed with a very contagious virus that Nighttime Pediatrics didn't bother to diagnose other than "cold" - I missed the window of opportunity to minimize the entire household's exposure to my child's very contagious virus - I wouldn't have if I had gone to Minute Clinic. I have health insurance now, and I will still frequent Minute Clinic because I trust them more than any of the other "Clinics" in the area. What to watch out for? I was told to purchase a cough remedy that contained an ingredient that I informed the nurse my son could not tolerate - I'm finding that most medical care givers overlook details like this, it has happened almost everywhere I have taken my child, even hospitals, so I'm not going to say that Minute Clinic is any worse because of it, but double-check this kind of detail with the staff before leaving any medical clinic.

    Minute Clinic

    Posted by Mamchelle74 on 11/04/2009

I would not recommend wasting my money by going to a minute clinic. Since I have no insurance, I thought that I could save money by visiting a minute clinic instead of a doctor. I went after having been sick for two weeks with a hacking cough and fever, and I could barely function well enough to take care of my two children. I rarely ever get sick, and in fact had not had to go to a doctor for a sick visit in well over two years. I explained to the nurse practitioner that it was uncommon for me to get an illness of this severity and duration. I do have a history of occassional episodes of bronchitis when I was younger, for which I would always need an antibiotic. I told her that this felt like Bronchitis. The nurse practitioner barely listened to me, and in fact interrupted me several times while I was talking to her about my history and present illness. She proceeded to lecture me about viral illnesses and the ineffectiveness of antibiotics in treating them (as if I didn't already know that). She then sent me home with an over the counter medicine. Two days later I ended up in the ER with severe Bronchitis, and pneumonia in one lung, plus a huge doctor bill. A prescription for Zithromax had me well two days later. If you are ill enough to seek care, do not waste your money at a minute clinic. The nurse practitioners there treat you like you are uneducated, and then don't treat your illness at all.

    Just what I needed

I have been to the Minute Clinic a few times now- for things like the flu and sinus infections. They have always been on top of their game and once even told me that I didn't have a sinus infection (that it was viral) and instead of prescribing me something I didn't need she recommended some over the counter drugs and told me that if I wasn't any better in 3 days to come back and she would re-evaluate the situation. She was extremely nice and thoughtful- which is more than I can say about the care I have gotten from my slew of doctors over the last 27 years.

Your system won't provide access to the reviews for this site; keeps sending me to "write a review," even though I'm just trying to GET information.

    Slow and rude service!

    Posted by neveragain1millonyrs on 05/30/2009

Waited one and a half hours along with another sick person. Spent another half hour for exam. After taking my money, Nurse said I would need to wait 3 days for antibiotics. Who can wait 3 days for antibiotics? Had to see my Doctor first thing Monday. He prescribed me the medicine. When I got home there was a message from the minute clinic saing they lost my throat culture and I needed to come back to repeat exam, UNBELIEVABLE!

Will use minute clinic in the future

    Posted by MyOhAmya on 04/27/2009

I went to the minute clinic because I couldn't get a same day appointment with my doctor. I was in and out of the minute clinic (with my prescription in hand!) in less than 30 minutes. The nurse was very attentive and kind. I would recommend the clinic to anyone.

Went in and practitioner ignored symptoms, wrote inaccurate information in file. Be very careful! mistakes with your health could cost more than just money!

    No Waiting!!

I was in need to see a physician ASAP. Unfortunately I was not able to receive a same day appointment at my regular doctor's office. As result, I logged on to Minute Clinic website for a listing of offices in my location. I found one within a few minutes where I live. Within seconds of my arrivial at Minute Clinic, I was seen by "Lilly" the NP. She was very informative and professtional. She prescribed all the medications needed for my recovery. I am a healthcare provider as well and I will diffinately use Minute Clinic again. I highly recommend it!!

    FAST AND COURTEOUS

    Posted by smileygrrl on 12/16/2008

I went in for a flu shot. The registration was quick. Once I registered I saw the nurse practitioner quickly. It's not a doctor's office and faster than other "urgent care" places. If your need is straightforward, then this is a good choice.
