    What a Disaster!

    We had our taxes prepared by Jackson Hewitt, and even though we sat there through the entire process, there were several errors in the final printout. Of course, we didn't realize the errors were there until after we had left the office. When we went back the next day (tax filing day) their computers were "frozen" and they couldn't access our file to correct the errors and provide a new printout! We had to go home and do the entire return by ourselves in time to mail it out that day! Unless they somehow switch to MACs instead of their PC system which crashed horribly on the most important day of the year, avoid them. Also, they charged $307 for this experience...found a licensed, registered tax accountant (former IRS employee) the next year for $150.

    I will never get my taxes done here again. I was told 3 times I could pick up my taxes and every time I went to get them, not only were they not done, they weren't even started! I kept having to tell them what needed to be done because they kept screwing it up. When they finally were done they couldn't find the key to the filing cabinet so I had to wait half an hour while they found it, and after all that they couldn't find my state taxes. The whole time the people there were extremely rude to me. Plus, when I went to send in my taxes I found that they had only selected W-2s so I had to go through everything again to make sure the correct paper work was together. I tried complaining to their main office, but I got no response. Did I mention I paid $300.00 for this great experience?!

    sounds like the first few comments are advertisements for jackson hewitt i went there and they said they could not know how much the fee would be until they were done preparing the taxes. at the end, they said it would be $380 on a $1500 return.

    These guys have know idea what they are doing. They caused me a great deal of grief, time and money. I had to go to someone else to fix my problems that they had caused.

    Jackson Hewitt is wonderful. The IRS has been sending me letters telling me I owe them $3000 in taxes. Jackson Hewitt sat down with me went over my tax return not only did they fix the errors but they explained to me what they were doing. So much nicer than the place I had been going to. Jackson Hewitt as earned my business let them earn yours.
