Great food
Posted by absweeps on 11/29/2009
Larry's has been a part of my family for years. As a child, I could remember walking to get a hoagie or cheesetsteak and today, I still do. Great cheesesteaks, hoagies, seafood, etc!

Larry's! That 45 minute wait was worth it!
Posted by ChrisKnowsBest on 08/06/2009
Leaving the city one night my buddy TRIED to tell me this place was the best in Philadelphia. Right by St. Joe's you'll find Larry's. I went with my usual Jim's order Provolone steak with onions. About half an hour of waiting in a line that had about 3 people, I got my steak. Delicious. Just enough grease meat cut and cooked just the way I like it. Far better than scarfing down a Pat's or Geno's.

I Found Larry's By Accident
Posted by TattoodGuy on 01/20/2008
What a treat! I've done the South Street thing many times, but when I had a convention to attend in the Adams Mark and didn't really want to drive all the way into Philly to grab me a sandwich, I just drove and found Larry's. As authentic as it gets, with out the tourist trap. THIS is what a sandwich shop should be. Old, established, experienced, and excellent. 5 stars all the way.

Worse taste in philly
Posted by pyro1 on 01/13/2008
The WORSE service (after pats and genos) comes from the staff at Larrys steaks......it felt like they were doing me and my friends a favor for patronize them........the meat was DRY no TASTE to it they had 30 pounds of meat on the griddle (unlike other places in philly where they make their steaks one at time) i will never spent another dime there......i feel sorry for SJU students if thats their only choice around campus.

Best Steaks In Philly
Posted by damned4lifevamp on 06/25/2007
This place has the best cheese steaks in all Philly, forget those tourist places Geno's and Pat's. Both bad reviews on here don't even make any sense. Of course something will be soggy if you drive all the way back to DC with it.... And I have never gotten a dry steak from there and I live down the street and go all the time. I have also never had a problem with them "not speaking English." They have great service and a nice atmosphere. They even have a giant TV in there for everyone to watch... Not to forget to mention once again.. their cheese steaks.

ARE YOU KIDDING?

ANYONE WHO GIVES THIS PLACE A GOOD REVIEW REALLY HAS - NO - TASEBUDS.
THIS HAD TO BE THE WORST CHEESESTEAK I HAVE - EVER - EATEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IT WAS DRY AND HAD - NO!!!!!! FLAVOR. I WAS IN DOWNTOWN PHILLY AND DROVE 10 MILES TO GET THERE ONLY TO BE TREMENDOUSLY DISAPOINTED. I COULD GO TO D'ANGELOS OR QUIZNOS OR ACTUALLY ANYWHERE ELSE AND GET A BETTER SANDWICH!!!!!!!!!!
ABSOLUTELY DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!!! NOT RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!!1

Not to be missed

This was MY place for cheesesteaks growing up, and I still must have one every time I'm back in Philly. It's MUCH cleaner than it used to be, and the staff is much more business-like, but the food is as good as ever. Chicken cheese steaks here are as good as the regular ones.

It was EXCELLENT as Usual!!!

We visited Philly on Sunday and Monday and my first stop was, of course, Larry's. I obligingly ordered the Bellyfiller and MMMMM... delicious from Bite One to the Last. Before heading home, we had to return to Larry's one more time for a regular steak. Until next time, Larry's, I Salute You and your wonderful cheesesteaks.

Not For Out of Towners
Posted by tammyj1 on 01/11/2006
I went to Larry's on the recommendation of a friend and knowing I could get my sandwiches "TO GO" and back safely to D.C. I placed the order for 6-7 subs, all "TO GO". Upon arriving in D.C. and opening the subs the next morning, ALL were soggy, none had the wrap to stop the lettuce & tomato from ruining the bread. VERY, VERY disapointed. I even faxed the restaurant in hopes of hearing from the Manager....NOTHING. Will NOT spend my money there again.
