This is a cozy, charming throwback to a bygone era, featuring stained-glass windows and dark-wood decor with high wooden booths and Formica-topped tables. Young couples and kids come in for standard diner fare, but ice cream drinks are where the Malt Shop really shines. Malts and shakes are served in enormous metal cups and come in more than 30 flavors. Seasonal flavors include pumpkin, pecan, peanut butter or apple cider.

The Malt Shop Restaurant is a local favorite for those people who like any kind of malt. Apparently the secret is that they don't use milk and they thus produce a smooth malt. An example of what they offer is the fig and banana malt. The ambiance is casual; it's pleasant for those who like an old-fashioned 50's style eatery. The food is American, but there are many items besides burgers on the menu.
