Thousand Springs Winery and Vineyards In 1990, we purchased 10 acres along the Snake River in the Hagerman Valley. This beautiful area is noted for its premier terroir ; fertile, sandy soil, hot summer days, and cool nights, an ideal place for growing premium wine grapes. Our love of food, wine, and travels abroad to France, Italy, and Spain were the inspiration for our vineyard and winery. Initially we planted 300 Chardonnay vines. Three years later 1300 Syrah vines were planted, along with 400 more Chardonnay, and 100 Merlot. We use drip irrigation to conserve water and control pesky weeds. Organic fertilizer ( fish emulsion ) is used to refurbish the soil to its healthy, natural state. This approach ; not only environmentally sensitive, has increased our production 3 fold and produced grapes of the highest quality.
