Found the cat of our life!

    Posted by Cecile7 on 03/18/2009

I had searched on the CAT web site for cats and fell in love with one of them just based on its profile and picture. My husband, kids and I went to meet the cat I had seen. We met Stacey, who told us where to find the cat we had seen on the web site. We filled out a profiling questionnaire that told us the most fit cat personality for our family life style. We spent time in a secluded room to meet two different cats seperately. Stacey pulled some background history on both for us. All four of us fell fin love with the cat I had see online. We filled out the adoption papers and only then we were told about the indoor only requirement and no declawing. It was fine with us, however those mandatory conditions should have been explained earlier in the adoption process. We spent about 2.5hrs at the facility and had a great time from beginning to end. We love our cat and are thankful to Stacey and the shelter's documentation for the tips and tricks on how to introduce our cat to his new home and our dog. We are all very very very happy, including our two pets that are now very good friends! Thank you!

Horrible experience with the Cat Adoption Team.

Hands down the rudest unorganized collection of crazy cat people I have ever come across. Beware if you are a family going to adopt a cat. We filled out the forms in order to view the cats, they reviewed them and all seemed to be in order. We spent the next hour and a half getting to know several kittens and my 5 year old daughter chose the cat she was going to love for the next 15 years. At least we thought so! We sit down to confirm the adoption and the very strange woman handling the paper work asks us if the cat was going to be an indoor only cat and we said no. We explained to her that in the summer the cat would have access to the outside just as we indicated on our form that we filled out when we arrived. Needless to say the adoption did not take place and my daughter was in tears for many hours. Shame on you Cat Team! This could have all been avoided if the front desk at the facility had a clear sign on the counter that said. We will not adopt out a cat if you plan to ever let it go outside or declawed it. At least people would know where they stand before they waist their time and get their feelings hurt. Ultimately, the real looser here is the cat because we were going to give it a wonderful life of love and happiness. Too bad. Shame on you again Cat Team!

    No donation from me

The idea behind the business is a great one. Too bad they don't have a more personable staff running it. I left a message about a potential adoptive cat. The lady who returned my call was RUDE. She started by getting my name wrong and didn't apologize when I corrected her. Then she asked me some questions about the situation. I didn't get but 2 sentences out when she started talking OVER me. The third time this happened I didn't stop talking myself but just continued on. Finally, her solution was "we couldn't take a cat like that unless you gave us at least $1000 donation. I would never allow a cat like that in my house personally." You just lost a potential $1000 donation.

    Unfriendly, unhelpful, rude.

A coworker of mine and I BOTH had horrendous experiences with the Cat Adoption Team. Both of us have adopted several animals from shelters and volunteered there, so we individually turned to the CAT to find a home for 2 strays. In my case, there was a female stray cat who was living in my carport. In my coworker's case, there was a mother cat with kittens in an abandoned car. In both of our cases, we could not introduce another cat to the household, but really wanted to find homes for these cats. Both of us put ads on Craigslist and in the paper, asked our friends and neighbors, and even took them to the vet, but there were no takers. We both contacted the CAT. In my friend's case, she made the mistake of walking in the CAT doors with the stray cat. She was basically told to leave and find a different home; they "don't take walk-ins." She was desperate for other suggestions, and they basically told her off. In my case, I contacted the CAT via email and phone. Via email, I received an auto-reply of things to do to find the cat a home (all of which, save for keeping the cat, I had tried). Via phone, I received (nearly a week later) a gruff message saying "Hi, it's X from Cat Adoption Team. Call me back", which I did, about 5 minutes later. Got voicemail. X returned the call about 20 minutes later. I missed it again and called back immediately - and got voicemail. My opinion? The Cat Adoption Team is a bunch of rude and useless people. I ended up finding a temporary foster home for the little carport stray, who is now up for adoption.
