    As a former server...

    Posted by ajwaitress on 08/08/2009

I too am I former employee of the Vista's Carolina Wings (06-07)and while I can agree that service is not always fantastic, I can attest to the food. The chicken is freshly breaded and fried and I do love their wing sauces. My personal favorites are the Doc's BBQ and the Teri-Cajun (as for the bbq fanatic-you're an idiot... SC is known for it's wide variety of bbq flavors but columbia's area is known for mustard- you can divide the state into BBQ flavors like you divide it into counties). Keep in mind that most of the employees are also full time college students (and making $2.13 per hour + tips) and most of the managers are making less than the servers so... be considerate. Don't expect fast service on a game day though most week nights you'll find a quiet family restaurant and bar. They also have great specials (think 40 cent wings, all you can eat crab legs, etc.)

    Amazing Food!

    Posted by PierceC on 02/24/2009

Okay, I'm not like all the other "goofs" who rave about food at a restaurant just because they're still in business when all the others are dropping like flies, but Carolina Wings is undoubtly the best bet for your buck in the Vista. Sure, it's not glitzy like many of the other places down there, but it's phenominal food with great service. Even though they are known for their wings and ribs, I personally order their burgers most of the time. Great place to go watch sports, too! I hope they can weather this economic storm,...I'll do my part!

    Worst Service In Town

    Posted by deb66 on 01/07/2009

I've been going to Carolina Wings in the Vista since it opened. I must say that over the past 2-3 years I have seen the quality of the food and service going downhill. I have also noticed a significant change in the staff as well. The waitstaff used to me more knowledgable about the menu, what is offered at the bar, etc... I have also noticed that there seems to be a high turnover of managers at all of the locations. What has happened to the people that worked for the company for years???? Those who helped build the company? Looks like they have been replaced with younger, less-paid managers. While I do understand this kind of move in this economy, I hope you realize that your business has changed and not for the better. I will not eat at another Carolina Wings and Ribhouse again due to the quality of the food and the service.

    NASTY

    Posted by cs87 on 07/02/2008

I worked at Carolina Wings for a few months and let me tell you....I never ate the food. The kitchen is a mess, the dishes dont get cleaned all the way and frankly the cooks and most of the servers just dont care. Customers would ask me what I would reccommend and I had to make something up because I was so disgusted by all the food. When eating at Carolina Wings, use discretion.

GREAT FOOD - Horrible Service - Christopher Wayne Rosenbeck

    Posted by Bishop212 on 05/30/2008

I would give a 5 star for food, however service is horrible. Make sure your server is not named "Christopher Wayne Rosenbeck". He shows up at the west columbia store. (I can't say he actually works, but he shows up) I will never go back even though the food is GREAT

Best Wings and Ribs in Columbia!

    Posted by jkclinger on 10/02/2007

I have been going to all the Carolina Wings locations since I moved down here two years ago. There's actually 5 locations around Columbia, and I've been to them all! Each location has it's own flair, but they all have the same great food. There's a reason why they've won best wings and best ribs,...too bad there isn't a category for best staff.

    Poor Service

We had a small group 5 adults and 4 children. Our drinks stayed empty. The orders did not come out right. The waitress acted like we were bothering her!!! Food was pretty good once they got it right!!

    Great Ribs with different sauces!

    Posted by lkahra99 on 08/25/2006

Most BBQ places in South Carolina cook on a grill then pour a ton of mustard-based bbq sauce and call themselves BBQ. South Carolina favors a mustard based BBQ sauce, which in my opinion does not belong on any kind of meat, especially ribs. So much to my surprise after 2 failed attemps of finding a true BBQ place, I found their ad on the free local newspaper. They offer ribs with 5 differnent kinds of ketchup-based sauces. I got the classic sauce and my friend had his full-slab of monster ribs ($17.99) prepared with Doc's BBQ sauce; both are absolutely tastey. I said to myself, "Finally, a BBQ that is a true BBQ!" They also serve their own brew! It was only like $1.50 for a tall glass. It was good for a light beer. I usually drink dark beer like Sierra Neveda or New Castle so that is a complement. The place is surrounded with flat screen T.V.s and has a nice size bar. My waitress was friendly even after working for 10 hours. They also serve some of the best chicken Wings with 23 different sauces to choose from! One sauce is sooo hot you have to sign a waiver in case your body (mouth/stomach) can't handle the heat and try to get a lawyer for damages! Also try the Wing Chips as your side item. All of us were glad we ordered a full slab of ribs and for our munchies (appetizer) we ordered Just Wings (20 for $13.49) half Cajun style and the rest Buffalo Cajun. I also found a great place to eat ribs in Charleston called Jim 'N Nicks Bar-B-Q. carolinawings

    Love the wings and ribs!!!

    Posted by bluelu51 on 08/27/2004

Great food and atmosphere. Can't think of a better place to eat!! There is a lot of variety on the menu so everyone should be able to find something they want ot eat. The parking is extremely easy and lots of it. The sauces on the ribs and wings are great and there are a lot to choose from. The service is always good.
