The best Pizza in town
Posted by angiebren3 on 01/15/2009
The food is awesome, there is a very friendly environment. I grew up eating there and still eat there. It hasn't changed much but it's great. The onion rings are out of this world!!! Simply the best.

Good to go
Posted by nevjuc8 on 03/28/2008
Grew up on the south side. I had youth celebrations at La Pizza House. I didn't go there for 20 years and when I returned the same waitresses were there - amazing. The onion rings are what it is all about at La Pizza House. They are thick rings, and if you have had better I'd question your judgment. Their bread and sausage sandwhiches are excellent. I love the pizza - may not suit everyone's taste. I'm pro La Pizza House, and I am so pleased they continue to do business. Stay Strong!

Ever seen the show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?
Posted by acire24 on 03/27/2008
Even if you haven't this place would be filed under the category "Dives". Dirty floors, walls, and possibly the silverware (but you can't tell since it is so dark). La Pizza House does little for ambiance, but dispite these pitfalls, the pizza is awesome. I remember as a kid going to work with my mom downtown and on our way home stopping at La Pizza House for Italien Sausage pizza and onion rings. The pizza is still good, but if you have a thing for eating in a dive, then get your order to go.

Eat there whenever I'm in town
Posted by livingood on 03/25/2008
I've been going to La Pizza House for over 30 years (since childhood) and the pizza is fabulous. I now live out of state but whenever I visit I find the time to stop by. This is how I imagine authentic Italian pizza would taste. I've tried duplicating it at home and can't. It's saucy and cheesie and has a fabulous fresh taste to it. And, of course, you have to have the onion rings.
For anyone that says the wait is long...how many restaurants or pizza joints have you been to where you don't wait 30 minutes because I'd like to go there. And if you are a regular you know the same staff has been there for decades. Now that's something to see. It's like reuniting an old friend.

Not Worth the Looong Wait
Posted by dsmdiner on 07/18/2007
I took my two boys 10 and 8 there tonight. We were looking to try something different and heard good things about La Pizza House. I agree 100% with the reviewer who said the pizza was not worth looong (30 minute) wait. Think of the very best box pizza you've made...well, this is close to that, but still inferior. Subpar. Very, very average, almost strange-looking pizza. Not cheezy at all...and seemed poured out of a can. The waitress was embarrassed at how long it took to serve and very apologetic. I sent back the Margherita...as it was bland and seemed pour out of a can. We visit many pizza places, but I would not return to La Pizza House. My boys told me they did not like it.

A customer since 1970!
Posted by caliger on 06/16/2005
I have been eating at La Pizza House since the early 70's (since being a child). If it weren't a good place to eat. I wouldn't still be going there. The onion rings are awesome, as well as the pizza. I would say that their prices are a bit out of touch for what you get. I have always had prompt service and hot food. In fact, when I have friends in from out of town. This is where we stop. Give it a try!!

Not sure what the fuss is about
Posted by smillersmiller on 10/07/2002
In the evenings, I've often seen the parking lot of La Pizza House full, and it's completely full almost every Friday night. I stopped by once after work with a co-worker to find out what we were missing. The services was slow - we waited a long time to get our order in even after spending a long time perusing the new menu, we stared at our pizza on the counter for quite a long time before the server got a chance to bring it over, and then waited again to pay. The pizza itself wasn't very good either - one of the only times I can ever remember pizza leftovers I didn't eat before they went bad in the fridge. Our experience may have been unusual in that I still see tons of people there for dinner, but I haven't been back to find out.
