Service Department needs lots of service training.

Scooterville's service department is unprofessional. I e-mailed them through their websight to make an appointment to bring my 1964 Vespa in. It took 2 days and me calling them to find out I should just drop it off. I dropped it off and went through symptoms that I wanted corrected. I didn't heard anything back for the first week. I called, left a message: no return call. I called again a week later and got through to the shop manager, Steve. The shop manager said he'd look into it and call me back later that day. Shop manager never got back to me. I stopped in (2 weeks have now passed). I asked the shop manager 'why he didn't follow up as he had promised.' Lame excuses, including mechanic was sick, I got busy. I asked why it took so long to get a repair done. He told me "It's an old scooter with a bad seal, and I'd rather work on new scooters. The old ones go to the end of the line." No one told me that two weeks ago, and if they had, I never would have gone through this horrible experience with Scooterville. Then Steve told me he didn't want to work on my scooter. He was rude. They screwed up and didn't even offer to make it right. Had they been up-front with me at the outset, I would've said, "Thank you for being honest," which they weren't. I would've been fine and moved on. I am in the market for 2 new scooters. I wanted to experience what their service was like before I purchased from them. They failed.

Sales staff disorganized but nice - service stinks

    Posted by tap595 on 06/25/2008

Ok, so I bought this really cool little buddy 125 scooter. The matching trunk is on back order till mid June. I call to check on it and they say they will check and call me back and I never hear from them. Here it is the end of June, several calls later, and I still have no clue where my cute little trunk is. I have had my scooter for about 2 months. A total of 131 miles on it. Finally, the weather is right and I go to get on it. It wont start. If it does turn over, it dies in about 2 sec. I call them. They say have it towed down to their shop. It was towed down on a wed. It has now been 8 days, and 4 phone calls, and I still have no clue when my scooter will be ready. Yesterday, when I talked to someone in service he told me it was my fault because I didnt drive my scooter enough... It had only been sitting for less than 10 days when it wouldnt start. If that is too long, then they are selling junk! Minimally, they should tell you you have to start it every X number of days. They said nothing and the owners manual doesnt say anything... My biggest frustration is that they are disorganized and their customer service stinks. They say they will call you back and you never hear from them again. You go there, and they are to busy to deal with you. You call and ask for someone, ie: Bob Hedsrom, and you are told he is to busy to talk and he will call you back. But, you never hear from him. So, if your looking to buy a scooter I would not recommend this shop. Maybe they are just overwhelmed by the increase in sales due to gas prices. But, if they cant service what they sell and their customer service is so poor, they wont be keeping their customers. Buyers be ware - if you need them for service, be prepared to wait, wait, wait for a call back...

    Unhelpful, elitist snobs...

    Posted by Raterguy on 05/12/2008

I own a scooter from before I lived here in the twin cities and needed a little routine maintenance done on it. I called scooterville to take it in and they instantly said they wouldn't work on it, because it wasn't one of the overpriced brands that they sell. Not only would they not work on it, but I haven't had someone be that rude and snobby to me in at least 10 years. I love scooters, but if you are going to act self righteous and elitist about it, you should really get over yourself. I will never buy a scooter from these guys, in fact, I won't even take a pair of goggles from them if they were free.
