We Are Proud of You Mrs. Smith!

    Posted by Kelsie2002 on 07/05/2009

Mrs. Smith, it was so great to see you again! We truly miss having you as the Kindergarten teacher at Marion Earl Elementary School. Your years of dedication, love, and support for all of the children that you taught there over the last ten years will never be forgotten. My daughter and I were so proud to hear that you had opened your own childcare center. I thought, who best for the job! I'm so glad to know that your love of children is still alive. Kelsie and I absolutely loved your daycare center. We enjoyed the tour you gave us last week. The center is just as cute and colorful as you kept your classroom all those years. The environment is warm and friendly. Your staff seems so caring and good with the kids. I have never been in a daycare that is as clean and decorative as yours. We wish you the best with all your endeavors. Kelsie and I will stop by to visit you from time to time and we will definetly tell others about your center. We are sooo proud of you! Because of you, Kelsie wants to be a teacher and work with children, too:) Love Always, Lisa and Kelsie (kindergarten class of 2002)

    Kids R Us Nightmare!!!!

    Posted by lasvegas0751 on 03/30/2009

I do not recommend that you bring your children here. This enviroment is not safe or sanitary. I have watched this center over some time and there is no routine cleaning in the classrooms. The classrooms are not developmentally appropriate for the age groups. Where is the lesson plan!!! There is constant mixing age groups and I KNOW the teachers are always over ratio and way over worked!!! There have been several times that I have come into the center and there was no one left in charge. What if there is an emergency! What would happen to our children?? Who would be there to take control of the situaton. There should always be someone left in charge for emergency purposes. This lady should be reported to child care licensing and the health department. Kim and her husband are very rude and have very poor work ethics. They don't have respect for anyone. I agree that they don't discuss parent accounts in private which is very unprofessional!!!!! I dont even understand why her husband is even involved with the business!! On her certificate it says Kimberly Smith not Kim and Odell!!! Because of Odell's short temper I do not think it's a good idea for him to be transporting the children. I don't even think he has the requirements to work in a child care facility. At first I was really happy to bring my children here but the longer I stayed the more I got to see how these owners really are.

    Business Response

I am the owner and director of Kids R Us Academy and the review you have just read was written by a disgruntle employee and NOT a parent. What is so crazy about her deceitful response is that the reason she was FIRED was due to her NOT wanting to do lesson plans or clean her classroom. You can tour our facility at anytime and find that we are EXTREMELY adamant about keeping the center cleaned and sanitized. Some of our old employees were used to working in centers where the owners were absent and could get away with being LAZY and UNPROFESSIONAL. But with me being there 7 days a week and working 16 hour days, they couldn't get away with anything! I am always pleasant and very respectful to my parents. My husband is hardly ever there because he has a full time job as an electrician and works 12 hour days. When he is there, he is dropping off our two sons who are 9 and 11 years old. He is the owner of the center and has every right to be there. The disgruntle employee is just upset that the evening he came in to pick up our sons, he questioned her about why her room was not cleaned and mopped. She became insubordinate, defensive, and ultimately lost her job. Since then, we have a TREMENDOUS teacher who has taken her place. The children are actually learning and thriving! Ms. Lucy is experienced and hard working and NEVER puts her children at risk of disease and would never let them play in filth as the previous employee did. She keeps her room cleaned and sanitized daily. For any parent looking for daycare, I urge you to always take a tour and meet the teachers and directors before forming an opinion based on these reviews. Check out my new website at kidsrusvegas.com and stop by the center anytime. Your child will be in GREAT hands!!!:) - Kimberli

    Would NEVER recommend this place

    Posted by vegasmom_of1 on 03/29/2009

First of all I would have to AGREE with the first review. Kim is not a people person, and very unprofessional to parents and the staff. Nothing is done in private. The rates are ridiculous for the kind of care the children are receiving. When I would get my child's daily chart sent home the teacher would include everything they did and what they ate, and found that my child wasn't getting a healthy snack/meal, or even enough. My child was always hungry when we left. There were times when I would call and she wasn't in the building. And I have had a run in with her husband, and I don't know who really runs the place. Definitely unprofessional. I will NEVER ever recommend Kids R us Academy to anyone that asks of a child care. For being open less than a year, she has a lot to learn about the way she treats her parents and staff or shes not going to make it.

    Business Response

As you can see, this response was made one day before the other deceitful response made on 3/29/09. My ex-employees can fabricate as many stories as they like about my center. But the truth always prevails. My parents love me, my new employees love me, and most of all my students love me!! No matter how many lies you write, it is NOT hurting my business because once people visit my center and meet me, they know that I have a bunch of jeolous haters(or disgruntle employees) that have nothing better to do but slander others. I have been a teacher for over 18 years with Clark County and I have NEVER had a bad review from a principal, parent, or student. My reputation speaks for itself in this community. I have always treated my students like they were my own and I will continue to do so at my pre-school. For being open less than a year, my center is thriving! My parents are happy and my staff is doing such a great job that half of them have already received their first raise!! If the previous employees had spent as much time developing their classrooms as they are spending slandering me, they too might have been rewarded. Ms. Kim - Kimberli

    Kim is Great!

    Posted by VegasScene on 03/03/2009

I can tell you after reading this other review that I have NEVER seen Mrs. Kim in a bad mood. She is very professional and handles all of the kids with kindness and care. If anything I see angry parents storming into the office giving her and the staff a ear full! My kids are enrolled and I will contiue to use their services. Thanks Mrs. Kim, keep up the GOOD WORK!!! :) Susan

    Business Response

Thank you for writing a truthful and sweet response!!! I am soooo appreciative that someone was willing to rebuttal those slanderous lies. I wish you had used your real name. I looked in my records and could not find one parent with the first name Susan. Please let me know who you are so that I can thank you personally. Sincerely Greatful, Ms. Kim - Kimberli

    Director/Owner Has Bad Attitude

    Posted by ilmbb.nisha on 02/22/2009

My children attended this day care for a little while. I enrolled my children because everyone seemed great. It was a good area and I figured my children would be happy there. As time went on, I started to notice how the Owner/Director would be negative and began to take her personal frustration out on parents like myself and her employees. I believe she was stressed because she's always under staff. This provider is very disrespectful and find any way for parents to pay extra by any means necessary. At a point of time, the providers husband would ask parent when they walk through the door if their account was up to date. I believe this is not professional and the wrong way to handle business. Accounts should be discussed in private. This provider had new parents in January 2009 sign old agreements for the previous year. She went up on the prices and did not notify any of the new parents of her changes. She is charging these new parents the higher rates even though their contract states something different. The pathetic thing is the moment you question her about your account and why you are being charged more than your contract states, she automatically terminate you. The Owner/Director name is Kimberli Smith. I just think business should be handled professionally.

    Business Response

I know exactly which parent wrote this response. Kenisha's children attended the center briefly from Jan-Feb. and was given the "royal treatment" as do all of my families. However, as soon as I tried to enforce her contract by making her pay the overtime she incurred, the honeymoon was over. This parent would leave her children at the center for nearly 12 hours on the weekend. We offer 10hours of childcare on the weekends and 12 hours during the week. I knew she was a single mom on EOB. She just lost her job 10 days after joining the center and I did not enforce some of the rules in the contract. However, once she got a knew job, she was asked to pay and refused by saying she never got a copy of the new contract or any of the new memos where I was laying down the law that parents must pay for services rendered. I'm a kind hearted person and I knew that my good nature was being abused and so I put my foot down and terminated her. As Martin Luther King once said, "It comes a time when you get tired of getting kicked around." Well, I was tired of being "used". There were nights when her sons were the last two kids to leave the center-at 1am in the morning. I even allowed them to wait inside my facility until the city bus came so that her boys did not have to sit at a bus stop in 40degree weather. Other times I drove them home at 1 and 2am in the morning when I had to turn around and be back to work for 6am in the morning. I never asked them to pay me for my gas or time and she never even offered. One time she was too sick to come and pick her boys up from the center and we took her boys to her apartment. She crawled to the door sick with fever and I worried how she was going to care for two young boys as sick as she was. We even went to Walgreens and bought her some over the counter meds and brought them back to her. She didn't have the money to buy meds and we bought them for her. This is who we are...the smith family cares for others because we are Christians and just good hearted people. It's ashame how people will turn on you in a hurt beat and forget all the wonderful things you have done for them and their children. I understand that the economy is upside down and that finances and money problems are breaking up all kinds of relationships...marriages and even relationships with the people who care for your kids. Even though I lost a client, I don't have any hard feelings towards this family and I wish them well and I hope that her sons are doing well wherever they are. Ms. Kim - Kimberli
